Aliens or just humans?
I have not seen any aliens, so I can't compare. But I sincerely hope they have better morals than us. I have a feeling (a very unpopular one at present in astrobiological circles) that the moment of creation of a cell happened only once and all life is derived from this moment. As to whether this happened on Earth, or on some remote planet and delivered to Earth in a meteorite, I do not know. But stranger things have happened.

Of course that's not true. It's kind of obvious.

Huh?

Global warming: doom or hope?
Most of my most knowledgeable scientist friends don't believe that global warming exists. I have still not seen any proof that the planet is increasing in temperature, or that we have a hand in determining such changes. I do think the concept has led to some good changes. such as an increased awareness of how wasteful we are. But lots of people are cashing in on the carbon industry, distracting us from more important issues, such ashow to treat animals.

But yeah, "I have a feeling" isn't the most scientific viewpoint. :P

No way, for the first time in a very long time, there's something other than promotion on there. His science always sounds whimsical to me, the stuff I understand, but while he can be very down on humans, you can hardly criticise him for being anti-animal cruelty, clearly it means a lot to him and he's certainly never excepted himself from the faults of the human race.

Plus, I call bullshit too, on the hypocrisy of anyone here criticising someone else for being arrogant about their views!

I can almost understand the logic that life only exists on Earth. I think it's almost certainly wrong, but I can get my head around the logic.

However the logic that life only developed once, somewhere in the universe, and all other life came from that - and that it may have happened on earth, but may have happened elsewhere instead and was transported here by a meterorite - is a very bizarre thing to think. It just doesn't make sense. I'd have thought that life would have to develop many, many times for it to be successful - the idea that a single-celled organism developed from amino acids just once, and it managed to survive and reproduce on the first and only occasion that it happened just seems extremely unlikely to me. It almost sounds like a subtle version of intelligent design to me.

It's not that subtle, he does say elsewhere in that questionaire he believes in God, so I doubt he was trying to subtly indicate intelligent design there.

I refuse to take Brian May seriously until he cuts his fucking hair short! Everybody has a time, he is past his time. Sure, continue to dye it, but ya gotta cut it. He is going to look as bad as David lee Roth did before he finally was told he looks ridiculous to have such long hair at his age when it is clearly thining.

That's funny he actually seems to be doing the complete opposite, most recent pictures would suggest he's no longer dyeing it.

You're all insane, the guy is a genius.

I have not seen a really recent photo, but if he still has any black, he is dyeing it, and is now using Just for Men's 'Touch of Gray'; Known to you guys over there most likely as 'Touch ouf Gray' of course.

I think Gray with an A is a name isn't it?

No it looks like he's growing his roots out...you don't just stop dyeing your hair and suddenly all the former dye falls out, it'll have to grow out now.
