I walked into my flat last night after work, and one of the directors of the IAEA Human Health department was sitting in my living room (my husband was taking pictures of his gorgeous daughter)... he's from Cambodia and one of the world specialists in paleoradiology, but also holds a PhD in ancient history and another PhD in media communications. His publication list is more than just impressive.

So, we got chatting (you know I'm interested in languages and stuff, so I asked him about Khmer) and he wanted to know what I do, so I told him about ancient astronomy and languages and my UNESCO project.

Well, to my surprise, he was more than impressed by all that and he now wants to write a joint article on Cambodian astronomy (for which he's going to give me a very old book that nobody's done any research on). Basically, he's going to do the historical bit and I'm going to do the astronomical bit.

Of course, the research done for this paper is going to go straight into the database of my Ancient-Skies project ;)

Wow!! This is getting much bigger than I ever expected it to be. I'm just not sure I'm gonna cope with my stardom :P

Good lord woman, you're gonna be famous. I'll be able to say "I knew her back when..." and yet none of my friends will be nerdy enough to recognize your name. So this really does me no good. :P

But seriously, congrats. That's waaaaay cool.

You know, this isn't the way I planned it... I actually always wanted to make the world a better place, but this ancient astronomy isn't going to do that, unfortunately... and it's a totally nerdy subject that nobody - apart from myself and about, what, 5 other people in the world - is actually interested in :P So my fame is going to be a very limited one... that makes me feel slightly better about it, too ;)

I haven't much news. Broke up with Dren :( Was so determined to distract myself that I threw myself into work and completed a 4,000 word assignment in two days.
My teacher training course is unbelievably hectic. I've never been so busy and I'm constantly exhausted.
