if we're sober in our wishes for live releases..

Talk about Queen's live performances!

I know a few of the guys from the sound team were at the launch for the Led Zeppelin live double DVD a few years back, and were all impressed with how that one was done. I'd expect that to be the benchmark for any sort of similar future Queen Live compilation.

That would be a very good model to go by

Yep that is a hell of a good set too.

I'm no zeppelin expert, but I wonder how much footage they have left and how much was used on that set?

I love the idea of a similiar Queen release, and if it's true that they don't have the complete multi tracks to various pro shots a compilation using the best of what you have, is a good idea.
but; if they make it a 2 or 3 disc set - ALOT of footage is bound to be left untouched. and if it doesn't make it on to a compilation like this, chances are slim they'll ever see the light of day
Thankyou Paul Rodgers, for your time, effort and massive talent - enabling Queen to go out again from 2005 - 2008.
I salute you

Fairly simple solution. Two or three disc set for Joe Public, expanded ten disc edition for the Queen junkies.

It all depends if anyone is objectively going to take over carrying the flag if and when Brian and Roger decide to retire.

Oh for a set like this from Queen.

Sixty odd previously unreleased tracks.

OK it might be a bit pricey but can you imagine Roger and Brian signing album artwork for pre-orders. We can but dream.

And then there is the Neil Young project, re-issuing and re-mixing original recordings and archive material on DVD-Audio, putting it out in enormous box sets over a period of several years...

I would agree, to a degree, with the previous theories, that designated DVD Audio discs are a bit of a waste of time, but by adding significant amounts of video footage, not available elsewhere, the format does become attractive to different groups of people, other than the "surround" nutcases like myself.

I think it would be a good idea. Probably won't happen, but I can dream...
