Live versions of songs which surpass the studio versions?

Postby AllThroughOurSplendor » Sun Dec 14, 2008 1:36 am

I browsed through a few pages and didn't see this topic, so forgive me if there is one...

Anywho, I've been listening to the various live albums recently, and the songs for me which are markedly better live are the ones from Hot Space (Back Chat, Action This Day, etc.) which are absolutely blistering live. So what are some other tracks you guys feel have a superior live version(s)?
Why can't we see that when we bleed we bleed the same.

Put Out The Fire. So much better than the studio version IMO.
Edit ~ Another One Bites The Dust is much better live too.

Hammer To Fall to some degree. Sheer Heart Attack, the Hot Space songs, Save Me, and Now I'm Here are also better live.

I'll always prefer a live version of "Somebody to Love" to the studio version

Everyone knows the Hot Space songs are better live but IMO the ones that benefit the most are:

Staying Power
Body Language
Action This Day

No, the version from Hammersmith is miles ahead of Live Killers.

Other than the choir and the falsetto notes in the vocal solo, the best versions of Somebody To Love may be better than the studio ones.

Staying Power isn't THAT much better live, as in my opinion, the studio version is good anyways.

Staying Power is much better live, I already explained what I think of Body Language, Back Chat is better, Calling All Girls is the same, and Under Pressure is much better musically, but not so much vocally.

Oh yes, 1981-1982 is fantastic vocally for Under Pressure. I think Freddie does a better job on David's parts, but never nails the high part in its entirety.
