Re: Upcoming concerts, shows and events...

Next two shows for me are both Todd Rundgren. It will be the 18th and 19th time seeing him and will vault him past Ian Hunter on my all time concert list. I generally NEVER go see two shows from the same tour but I was gifted a pair of tix so I think it will be OK. The setlist for the current U.S. t...

Re: Reviews (albums, concerts)

Who: Grand Funk Railroad Where: MGM Northfield, Center Stage When: Rocktober 8, 2021 When I came of age and started becoming the cool dude I am today, Grand Funk Railroad were already a staple on FM AOR (That’s Album Oriented Rock for those under 40). Grand Funk were being played at all the ‘older’ ...

Re: Upcoming concerts, shows and events...

Three days until Grand Funk Railroad. I consider them one of the five greatest bands to come from the States though their popularity worldwide never matched their fame in America. Eight of their first 10 albums charted Billboard Top 10 with four gold, four platinum and two were 2xplatinum. Just for ...

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/31HPXwY9f2S._SL500_.jpg I admit that my expectations for this release were so low that they presented a trip hazard. However, I don't want to overstate this but "Outsider" is easily Roger's best release. Impressive melodies and production, each song is given what...

Re: Queen+ Paul Rodgers

Maybe we need an AC thread on here? ;) Maybe but hijacking threads is more fun! It gives the conversation a bar room atmosphere. Besides, I bet we could connect Paul Rogers to Alice Cooper in a few steps. Paul Rogers was in The Firm with Jimmy Page and Jimmy Page was a guest on Alice Cooper's podca...

Re: Queen+ Paul Rodgers

I agree with most of that re Alice Ccoper, but actually I think he puts on such a good show that the similarities (straitjacket, execution) are forgivable. That said, last time I saw him, he played schools out at the start and the end, and didn't play Elected at all. Apparently there is a DVD/CD re...

Re: Queen+ Paul Rodgers

but also, as you say, the show doesn't play enough of his new albums, when he's been banging out absolute corkers since 2000 that are, for me at least, up there with his early 70s albums. I have heard the song 'Dirty Diamonds' a few times and "Between High School and Old School' plus 'Ill Bite Your...

Re: Queen+ Paul Rodgers

enter lambert, they put on the nostalgia hat. since then, they have become their own tribute band, just like RT very proudly (and rightly) said they avoided when they forged ahead with new music in 2008. Agree. I would like to say that being your own tribute band is not necessarily an insult. If Ro...

Re: Queen+ Paul Rodgers

I thought touring with Paul Rogers was a really good idea. I thought that tour would be the first of many Queen tours featuring a guest vocalist. I imagined Elton, Bowie, Robert Plant, Phil Collins and just about any big name vocalist doing a tour with Queen. It would be almost like Ringo's All Star...
