Re: 50th Anniversary

I guess that goes back to my point that to most people, it's just a piece of pretty plastic, but to a collector, it means so much more. The postman isn't going to know what's in a particular package, without opening every one, to and from, everybody. He wouldn't be a postman long before somebody co...

Re: Greatest Hits III [Special Edition]

The post script irony to GH3 though, it must be said, was whereas the album was a bit shitty by Queen standards, (at that point), the Platinum Collection was a massively successful product that sold truck loads and I think GH3 works much better on that, with all the heavy lifting grunt work done by ...

Re: Queen 2

I’ve been listening to Queen 2 a lot in the car recently and way more so than any other Queen album certain elements of the track sequencing really irks me, specifically the two standout “sore thumbs” of Loser in the End and Seven Seas of Rhye. Other than my personal dislike of Funny How Love is, I ...

Re: Background story of Hangman

It’s quite possible that the circumstances of the song being recorded were very informal, which has resulted in the wonderfully murky and mysterious myth of its existence. For instance, the band could’ve just jammed to it one day in the studio whilst the tape was rolling and it just got forgotten ab...

Re: QPR vs QAL

Posters and entitled to interpret this topic as they wish, and may like or dislike QPR or QAL based on whatever parameters they want. But I do think context helps. There was an element of Queen’s decision making in their career that can be described as calculating, regarding money, but it was hardly...

Re: The Miracle Box set

Every release has been promoted live by QAL. It makes sense when the tour restarts they'll release the Miracle Box set, especially as it was very popular in the UK and Europe.

Re: Future boxsets

People can say what they want about other artists, and when a project like that is prudent to release, but one thing they usually have in common, is where they sit in your career trajectory, usually on the downward side of the graph. When you still have Greatest Hits albums on the chart, you've pro...

Re: Live Around The World

I feel that the album is (partly) designed to promote the mega crowd/festival credentials of the band. The mainly very large crowds are highly featured. I think the release achieved its goals, even if a full show is ultimately more desirable. The best quality recording is more likely to come from an...

Re: Did you buy Live Around the World?

I bought it. I like it. It sounds good. The live around the world vibe works better on the video, but I’m enjoying just listening to my favourite tracks off the CD. I’ve seen every QAL tour. They are a great band in and of themselves. The “we miss Freddie” element of the show is not my favourite ele...

Re: The Miracle

I was 11 when the Magic Tour happened and was too young to go. Then the band just vanished off the face of the earth. I figured they’d retired and I slowly collected all their albums. The first time I heard I Want It All on the radio the song wasn’t introduced and I knew after 5 seconds it was Queen...
