Re: Formula 1
I think it's like a lot of people have said, generally (and there are exceptions) when you're that ambitious it becomes a "Win at all costs" mentality. Just look at Schumi hitting the wall in Monaco. There's no way that you'd pre-plan something that ridiculous, that's the "in the moment" lack of for...

Re: Formula 1
Got to see both in full for tgfe first time a couple of weeks ago. For a second there I misinterpreted that as the race and your wife  That's a set up for so many humourous comebacks that I'm not even going to bother. Like Terry Wogan used to say, "It's like leaning against an open door."

Agreed. I remember watching that live, fantastic race. Watching it again, knowing what was coming, I couldn't figure out how he would do it. In fact I'm still astounded.

Re: Formula 1
They also re-ran Damon's win at Spa in the wet for Jordan, after Couthlard epically took out half the field. Good times. That was one race I missed live as my mates and I were on the way back from a stag weekend. We stopped at a pub for a bite to eat where they had the race on - that crash had just...

Re: Formula 1
Yeah, a woman I used to work for regularly went to Spa. She said the best spot was the top of Eau Rouge. She was there the time Kimi kept his foot down through the smoke - she could hear the engine approaching then he suddenly burst into view. Funnily enough, the Silverstone race you mention was rep...

Re: PUB QUIZ
It wasn't a single, so unless you knew the album, you didn't know the song. First time I heard it was when I got Pure McCartney a few years ago.

Re: Formula 1
A mate of mine races at an amateur level and has raced (or, at least, certainly driven) at Spa - somewhere is a great image of him coming up through Eau Rouge. That's the one circuit I'd love to visit.
I've been following F1 since the 80s and I still haven't been to a race.

Re: Formula 1
I stumbled across this video about the evolution of pit stops last night. Quite an interesting watch (he's done quite a few good videos).Leigh Burne wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 10:31 am I did wonder.
The days of people setting lap records by taking a shortcut through the pits are long gone![]()
