If anyone plays electric guitar...

Postby Ogre T Raylor » Sun Jul 31, 2016 3:23 pm

What are some of the most satisfying Queen songs to play? So far I've been learning guitar for about 2 years on and off, so I'm hardly a master but I can play scales pretty smoothly and I can play riffs pretty well with some practice. Solos however are still beyond my ability.

The short answer is all of Brian's stuff written on guitar. Freddie's piano compositions are in trickier keys. Most pub rock bands do 'tie your mother down as it's a simple riff on the open A then it's G-D-C-G. The solo is played with a slide and that's a skill in of itself.

Fat bottomed girls is relatively easy and fun also:

This chap's rather good at teaching Brian's stuff, and a friend of mine to boot:

If you follow his channel, he's worked his way through most of Queen's back catalogue

An exception to this rule is: The easiest Queen song is Crazy little thing called love. A riff over a D major, with a little finger augmentation (easy) Then G-C-G-D then the turnaround B(flat)-C-D

This dude nails the solo:

This chap's not too shabby either: ;-)

Cool! Thanks for the links. Yes, did suspect that Brians songs would be easiest to learn. I have been practicing Tie Your Mother Down and Sweet Lady with some success lately. I have tried We Will Rock You, but that one isn't quite so easy to learn (as you would expect)

Of Freddies songs I have learned some of Ogre Battle, the main riff anyway.
