If you could witness the band record any one album...

Postby Frank » Sun Sep 23, 2018 12:43 pm

If you could witness the band record any one album, which would you choose and why?

I think I would want to see the band record Innuendo. It might not have been the happiest time in their career, but the band were closer together than ever before and Freddie's voice was simply getting stronger. For example, I'd have loved to see Freddie swallow a bottle of vodka and then hit those incredible notes in The Show Must Go On. I just think it would be breathtaking. I think it'd also be fascinating to see them create the title track, because it started as a jam session with all four of them in the studio. A very fluid process that of course eventually turned into an epic that rivaled some of the production found on the earlier albums, specifically Queen II.

So how about you? 8-)

It seems like the "too obvious" choice almost, but I'm thinking A Night At The Opera, to see them recording things BoRhap and the Prophet's Song. Or possibly the first album, for historical reasons, to see how it was at the beginning.

Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?

I agree, to be honest any 70s sessions would have been great. Esp fall outs over tracks and finding out which tracks band members did and didnt like

A Day At The Races for me....to see them be able to really 'let loose' and be relaxed and free after the escape from Trident/Sheffield Brothers.

Yeah, Hot Space would be very interesting. All of the tension within the group would probably make for an explosive experience. But on the other hand, weren't the band not in the same room for most of the time?

Jazz is sooo over the top and I imagine that it would have been allot of fun.

I would like to have witnessed Innuendo... as heartbreaking as it would be. It's pure genius (as all of their work is tbh).

Queen II. For Freddie writing and recording the Black side. Twenty minutes of sheer genius at work.
