How didn't they know? Rob Halford knew (Mr. Judas Priest). :? It's going to be interesting to see how they portray him in this film.

Ok, I see Brian was just talking about the early years.

That article is probably one of the worst I've read on that site. Usually the articles are pretty good...not this time. The title alone made it seem Brian, Roger and John never knew about Freddie's sexuality.
Hoping the film is about Freddie as a talented, determined person.

I know many people will be perfectly satisfied that the film ends on a 'high' with Live Aid. However to sanitize Freddie's life is to be so far from the truth as to be a fantasy.

Really leads me to think this film is just to cause a spike in Queen album sales.

There is no way on this earth they would have gone through the hell they have over the years making this film just to cause a 'spike in album sales'. Do you really think they care only about sales and not about Freddie's story and legacy? Because the evidence from over the years would state otherwise.

As for this sanitisation thing? This all started after that knob jockey and liar Cohen stated it. I prefer to believe Brian (I know he is prone to hyperbole, but he is an honest man).

No, I have absolute faith that this film will portray all aspects of Freddie's life. It may only touch on AIDS and the hedonistic lifestyle he lived, but it will not be ignored. And I will be more than happy to see a Freddie film which focuses on the man's talent, personality and individuality instead of something centred around his personal sexual choices and the evil disease that killed him.

Lovely trailer. Looks good, looks promising. Too old and impatient to come up with flaws (for now). More glimpses will be offered anyway.
What's the latest era they show in the first trailer? Is that from a 1986 concert? The scene where Freddie in yellow hugs Mary(?) and spins her around? Or is it really Live Aid? It would be a bummer if they really leave out everything after Live Aid and just offer a one minute epilogue à la "And then they recorded three more albums, and later on they toured with Adam Bolton (get tickets on your way out!)". Obviously music bio pics are always marketing for the music because they generate awareness and make the artist and music appear "special." But please don't be too obvious about it.

I showed the trailer to my mom and she thought they were mixing old footage of Queen with the stuff shot for the movie. I guess that's a good compliment.

Also, it was funny reading the YouTube comments, where people called Mike Myers "the guy who did the voice for Shrek." I'm thinking "no, he's Wayne Campbell!"

If Freddie had a 'vanilla' personal life, it would not be worth touching on. But you can't pretend anyone(gay/straight) who led that uber-hedonistic lifestyle as he did has NO effect on their art and the people around them. Freddie's lifestyle was 100x as hedonistic as the average Joe's most wild night out. That's worth delving into. I'm not judging him from a religious/moral standpoint. I am saying that Freddie's Dionysian traits are what allowed him to produce his art but it meant his early death. They are inextricably linked and I feel this film will have us pretend his art came from something separate and sanitized.

I read one of the comments that the film will feature vocals and outtakes that havent been heard before etc. this film is a wonderful opportunity to use some of the live soundboard recordings we know the band have. I know it wont be something like life is real, but wouldnt it be great if something like its a hard life in brussels 84 was used.
