There will be a piece about the biopic on Thursday's Entertainment Tonight.

Well, the piece will. Don't know if there will be news about the film going ahead soon.

Thanks. The show was not aired in some areas for some reason.
What surprised me the !most is that Malek will be doing some singing. I'd rather Freddie's voice be used for the singing.

Thanks for posting this. I totally forgot to watch and I don't think it gets repeated later. Rami certainly looks the part!

He did say about singing, but my guess is that might be incidental singing (singing in the car/shower, rehearsals, etc) and when it comes to actual studio or live performances being recreated I reckon they'll have him mime to Freddie's performances. Just my guess.

I hope you're right. Even so, personally I'd rather hear Freddie's singing voice as much as possible in the film.

I think for me it would probably be easier to really get in to the world and the story of the film if the vocals would not be Freddie's own. It just wouldn't make sense because it isn't Freddie I would be seeing on screen... For me the believability of the movie is important, Ray was great because Jamie Foxx did the vocals himself.
There must be something you can say..?

Jamie Foxx happens to be a good singer and actor, so even though I'm not a big fan of Ray Charles, I say he made that whole film very believable, and it was very well done.
Don't know if Rami Malek can pull of Freddie off, only time will tell. Will the powers that be allow an actor to sing Freddie's music? Will it be done well? Time will tell, but I'd rather hear Freddie's voice, because for me, the music will be one of the most important things of the film, after all.

Yeah, I'm definitely in favour of the actor doing his own vocals. I think once you've cast someone else as Freddie you kind of have to commit to that. If you want to use the 'real' music then might as well just make it a full on documentary and use footage of the real Freddie as well. That's just my view though.

It would also be intriguing as to what would happen with the music if Rami is singing. Would it be re-recorded and re-arranged for the film? Rog and Bri are obviously involved but will they be actually recording music themselves. Would they go as far as doing the score as well?

But on the other hand, I don't know anything about Rami Malek's singing ability. Maybe he's good but finding a good actor who looks close enough to Freddie to be cast plus can sing anywhere near like him seems unlikely. But if they are telling a story then maybe the singing/performing parts will be secondary.

I think it's a horrible idea to use somebody else's voice (presumably a mediocre voice at that) in a movie about Freddie, the greatest singer ever.

I also think its a bad idea if Malek is going to sing the live stuff etc. To be fair he emphasize that he is only going to sing a little bit. Most likely only random stuff like from a practice etc. I am sure that if big concerts are covered in this movie it will be Freddies own vocals. At least I hope so.
