I suspect this is a cover up for a decision already made to replace Singer due to the allegations. I reserve the right to be wrong, but it's what many have already predicted, or at the very least hoped for. It's been reported that it's still scheduled for a Dec. 2018 release, but we'll see. I have a sinking feeling we'll have to wait longer.

Very disappointing (and quite surprising!) that QP didn’t do their due diligence on this. Or they did, the the allegations are bogus. The latter seems very unlikely.

One report I read said the illness was effecting Bryan and a family member. So unless they both happened to have their appendix burst at the same time, can probably rule that one out. Mind you, there's so much heresy and speculation, you never know what to believe anymore.

It’s almost certainly to do with the allegations. Appendicitis was just an example of an unexpected sudden illness that might affect a relatively young healthy man. I’m not actually suggesting that’s what he has!

According to NME, the movie is on hold.

Is there any evidence to believe this is due to the allegations that you say that with 'almost certainty'?

Around the time that the allegations were gaining momentum (they’ve been slowly burning for years), he deleted his Twitter, articles were removed from the internet, and it appears he hasn’t shown up to work since.

All circumstantial, yes, but I’m prepared to bet big money on being right.

NB I’m not saying the allegations are true - that would be libel, and innocent until proven guilty etc., just that his absence will be related to them.

I'm not ruling out that you could be right. I'm just questioning how you know with 'almost certainty'

Well I don’t know, do I? The ‘almost’ implies some uncertainty. I could say that Panama almost certainly won’t win the World Cup. I don’t know for sure that they won’t, but let’s face it, they won’t.

Someone predicting Panama not winning the World Cup would be able to point to their players available, history, form etc. that led them to that conclusion.

With Singer temporarily (or not) off this project, I'm just asking what you'd point to come to the conclusion he's left due to the allegations to the point of being 'almost certain'. Seems like there's lots of reasons why a director might leave a film, it happens all the time, so not sure I'm with you on the Panama World Cup analogy. I guess I'm asking if you know something we don't..?

All I’ve said is that his current absence is almost certainly due to the allegations - you know, the ones which gained momentum immediately before he deleted his Twitter and disappeared. It would be an enormous coincidence if they two were unrelated. Hey - he could be innocent and his illness is ‘stress’ as a result of it all.

I don’t know anything about Panama’s team and couldn’t name a single player, but I’m still happy to make that prediction.

It is what it is at this point. I'm hoping for a statement from Brian that gives some reassurance about the future of the project. Granted, I very much doubt it'll get scrapped. This film has been in the works for about seven years. They've already gone through a few hurdles (ex. SBC being a douche) and they've been filming for several months now. It's just a question of whether or not Singer will continue with his vision or will another director take the helm. Honestly, I'm not bothered as much about Singer's allegations. Innocent until proven guilty and all that. Plus I've really enjoyed seeing the work he's already done. As a fan, he got my blessing as soon as I saw the Live Aid stuff.
