Favourite Deacy track

Post by Teo_torriate04 »

What's your favourite Deacy track? For years I would have had no hesitation in saying Spread your Wings, especially the Live Killers/BBC version. But more recently I've really come to love Who Needs You, what a great feel good song that is.

Difficult question. He might not have written very many songs, but when he did it was mostly awesome. You and I has always been a favorite, but also Spread Your Wings. Undeniably, however, You're My Best Friend might top it all. After all, it's the song my wife and danced to at our wedding. Pop perfection!!

I'm going to say You're My Best Friend too. It's just so uplifting and happy. It never fails to make me smile.
I have to say, I wish John wrote more, but what he gave us is pretty damn good for me most part...I can't stand Dust anymore. The remastered version from a few years ago made me look at the differently.
Idea for a thread

I rarely seek out the hits written by Deacon but I do seek out "Who Needs You".

I bought the album "Our Only Weapon Is Our Music" by Gonzalez way back when because John listed them as one of his favorite bands. I can hear some influence on "Who Needs You".

Misfire, You & I, Need Your Loving Tonight are favs, although I can honestly say I don't really dislike any of his songs.

I'm shocked too, actually. Not that it's a bad song. I just don't think of it as his strongest. Definitely a beautiful string part though. I think what let's it down for me is, and I think I might get slammed for this, Freddie overdoes it vocally. Maybe the key should have been brought down, or it's simply his delivery. But then again, 1986 was never my favorite year for Freddie's singing. Too husky.

It’s one of my favorite Queen songs.

Spread Your Wings would be my second favorite.
