This is amazing, I never knew this. So in theory this could be a HD release, in fact they could even release on UHD 4K now!

To know that all of this material exists, it's great that it does, but it's so tantalising. I really hope it's released one day. I think full live shows are the best way to go, but if it is a compilation or nothing then I stick to my request that White Man is part of the compilation, this really is a must. Also, it would be nice to see Death on Two Legs released on live video.

Regarding the money made on such releases, I've bought Hungarian Rhapsody, Rock Montreal, Rainbow and Odeon all on Blu-Ray. Each Blu-Ray cost no less than £15.00 and for all 4 I think I paid over £70.00. This being the case, perhaps they're relatively low sellers, but because the price is always high they make money from the core fans willing to shell out? Just a theory.

It shouldn't come down to whether they can make a shed load of cash on a release - a band of their status should be releasing things like a 77 blu Ray with Houston and the Bob Harris documentary to add to their legacy and musical worth.

I agree, also these things should be released, if nothing else, for preservation purposes so that they're out in the world and never lost.

I'm assuming it all comes down to the owners of the copyright and their willingness - I mean it's not like in the past when you had to make a pressing or production run and decide on numbers, you can easily release digital only if in doubt about sales.

Nothing should ever need to be out of print either these days but there still seems to be parts of the industry stuck in the past.

Next year, 2017... My intuition says Earl's Court 1977 in favour of Houston, because I think a UK show will sell more DVDs and Blu-Rays, simply because Queen are more popular on their home-ground than over there.

If Houston, I bet on a double live-set release, where both concerts from 1977 are included, Earl's and Houston.

This please, both complete concerts would be amazing.

Personally if I had to pick one or the other I'd pick Houston, but I can see from a marketing point of view why that might not be picked. Which has the better quality footage though?...

Based on clips I have seen on YT, Earl's Court seems to have better picture quality.

To compare the two concerts picture qualities, go to iTunes and search for the Queen albums:

1. A Day At The Races (Deluxe version 2011 Remasters)
2. Go to bonus track: My Melancholy Blues (Live At Earls Court 1977) video.
3. Click preview video

Then compare:

1. Select News Of The World (Deluxe version 2011 Remasters)
2. Go to bonus track: My Melancholy Blues (Live At The Summit, Houston 1977) video.
3. Click preview video

No doubt that the Earl's Court concert is way better in terms of picture quality and sound.

I don´t think the official video from Houston 1977 does look any better than any random youtube video out there. So if this is the best possible, I am not sure the concert is fit for a release, or what do you think ?

There may well be far more Houston gig video filmed by Bob Harris that we haven't seen - the stuff we have a lot of is from a fixed camera(s) in the venue, and QPL didn't really do any work on those 2011 video extras before chucking them 'out there'. What we've seen of Earls Court is definitely much clearer quality, but there could be other Houston footage we've not seen (look at the quality of the Bob Harris behind the scenes stuff - it's fabulous!)

One of the most intriguing Queen shows is without a shadow of a doubt the LA 22-12-77 show at the Forum.
The setlist of that show is truly sensational.
And, in Greg Brooks' live book he transcribes the banter from that show. So, there is a recording of that - most probably - magical evening! If only they'd make a 1977 box with inclusion of this COMPLETE LA 22-12-77 show in audio form...
A big 1977 box with complete Earls Court (2 complete shows!!), complete Houston and complete LA... The die-hards who'd buy that expensive box (i wouldn't mind it being expensive!) would get a lot for their money.

For the casual fan there could be a stand-alone release of a 2-disc version from Earls Court (1 show made up of the best bits), a 2-disc version of Houston and a special offer with those 2 in 1 package.

The general music fan, the real Queen-fan and the die-hard would all be able to buy a product aimed at them specifically... Well, as a die-hard I wouldn't mind having the option of downloading more 1977 soundboards though... :

The shows from this period are forever in our thoughts and how best to present them - this is not a declaration of an imminent release btw!

Well, make sure to:
1) Offer complete shows
2) Put out UNHEARD show(s) for us die-hards.

That LA december 77 show is truly a holy grail for me. Just watch that setlist...

Just make it happen, guys!

I wouldn't get your hopes up for that show. For the most part we're going to get the big shows and mostly the shows that have visuals attached.

Full live shows on SD Blu-Ray and CD/Vinyl please. Possibly even a special 1977 set of several concerts for die-hard fans.

The second half of the 70's is very under represented in the Queen live catalog, and it's probably one of their best live periods. Also the live shows in America are under-represented.
