Wasn't Let Me Live originally from 83 ish when they originally recorded it with Rod Stewart? Other possible tracks for The Works were also Man Made Paradise and There Must Be More To Life Than This.

They made a similar claim for The Game.

In both cases, there's a real possibility that the number was a PR exaggeration - "look at how creative we are"

I have heard this too. When you think about it the only extra we have heard from "The Game" sessions is embryo version of the "It's A Beautiful Day" which amounts to little in its raw state. Even the spruced up version used on "Made In Heaven" isn't that brilliant in terms of content. It could be that they had 25 pieces in a similar state. I'd say its a matter of Quality over Quantity.

If there was that much in the bank then we would have had more tracks as B-sides etc. These would of been used as a pull to make you buy the singles.

'The Works' era is a good example of a lack of quality tracks not used - all of the album tracks were used up as the B-sides of the singles:

1. "Radio Ga Ga" [Single Release]
2. "Tear It Up" [b-side to 'Hammer To Fall']
3. "It's a Hard Life" [Single Release]
4. "Man on the Prowl" [b-side to 'Thank God It's Christmas']

5. "Machines (Or 'Back to Humans')" [b-side to 'Break Free']
6. "I Want to Break Free" [Single Release]
7. "Keep Passing the Open Windows" [b-side to 'Thank God It's Christmas']
8. "Hammer to Fall" [Single Release]
9. "Is This the World We Created...?" [b-side to 'Hard Life']

Nothing like making your fans buy the same thing twice. Although i will make the exception that we do have 'Let Me In Your Heart Again' now and we know that 'Man On Fire' is on a master tape somewhere.

The rumor about the Game was always very vague - I always kind of thought (and this is purely speculation) that the rumors sparked from the fact that they were working on The Game and Flash Gordon at the same time...and people put 1+1 together and got 3....

As for the Works...Now there I think you'd be wrong. There's always been more conjecture that there was more releaseable material at the time that somehow (either saved for or discarded) ended up on solo projects.

You have the 9 tracks on the album plus I Go Crazy as a B-Side.

From this era it is known that the band worked on:

Love Kills - the band was on it for the most part even though it turned into a Freddie solo single
There Must Be More To Life Than This - known story that Is This the World We Created replaced this track
Man On Fire - on an early promo cassette tracklisting
Let Me In Your Heart Again - on an early promo cassette tracklisting known as Your Heart Again
Let Me Live - on an early promo cassette tracklisting known as Take Another Piece Of My Heart
Man Made Paradise - on an early promo cassette tracklisting.

Next tier would be the Thank God It's Christmas sessions which are from around that time - obviously not early enough to be on the album but single purposes...we obviously got Thank God It's Christmas and then we also had I Dream Of Christmas worked on as well....

Beyond that -- with much more vague speculation could be made that the following may have been touched on:

Killing Time
I Cry For You
----- Both from Strange Frontier and both feature Freddie on backing vocals (ok only on the single version of I Cry For You) BUT enough to make me wonder whether Roger submitted these two to Queen first and then when they weren't used Roger just used Freddie's backing vocals on his album...

Even LESS likely
She Blows Hot And Cold - alt version from Freddie box has Brian on it. This one I do doubt but placed on here on the slim chance.

BUT with all that that's a total of:

9 (album) + 1 (Bside) + 6 (KNOWN worked on) = 16 tracks
2 (Later on -TGIC) = 18 tracks
3 (admitted stretches) would = 21 tracks.

During Queen's history, there ARE also songs that "naturally" grew out of others, for example Machines and Radio Ga Ga, Gimme The Prize and Princes Of The Universe, and One Vision and A Kind Of Magic.

And then other instances where completely different ideas wound up getting combined, like Breakthru and The Miracle.

Freddie: "Brian, you take this next one..." (and Brian sings his part of the verse). Excellent performance.

Guitar solo is so smooth and tight on this live track.

A fair question, but without listening to it again, my guess would be either John Peel or Bob Harris.

He sings that line on the Wembley '86 recording too.

It says Hollywood Records.

Fake or real? Saw it on eBay.
