So I am happy!

If you don't want it - don't buy it - simples!

Some people will never never be happy no matter what they do.

You realise that the opposite argument also works as a criticism of your unflinching acceptance?

One question though.

How do you know the quality is great? Are you comparing the quality of a forthcoming release (that you haven't heard) with a bootleg / non-official release (that you haven't heard either)? Or are you just assuming that because it's official, it will be great?

Please explain that to the people managing the news section on queenonline.com Every comment on every news posts from that section since 2009 was completely wiped and the comment feature disabled.

Or it's just some bug that appeared "coincidently and randomly" in this precise point in time?

No idea on that one sorry. I just administer the forum.

Some of these previously unreleased tracks were played on the BBC last year - the sound quality was great. I can't believe they'd then pick a lower res version of them to release.

Ah, so we're basing 'quality' on an internet stream / radio broadcast ?

Thanks.

Boycotting is a poor choice of words, because it suggests you're giving up on something in order to pressure the other side.

In reality we should all have enough integrity to buy as few (or as many) Queen releases as we want.

QP has the right to release anything they want, and we have the obligation to buy only what we see worth buying. There was a time when I bought every new release, but I managed to break that cycle when QP got greedy with their special editions and vinyl box sets... :-(

What you should be asking yourself is "Do I want to buy this product because it's worth the money, or do I want to buy it because I have all the previous products?"

Re-issue! Re-package! Re-package! I'm reminded of a simply fantastic, Smiths song. :P

At the record company meeting
On their hands - a dead star
And ooh, the plans they weave
And ooh, the sickening greed
At the record company party
On their hands - a dead star
The sycophantic slags all say:
"I knew him first, and I knew him well"
Re-issue! Re-package! Re-package!
Re-evaluate the songs
Double pack with a photograph
Extra Track (and a tacky badge)
A-list, playlist
"Please them, please them!"
"Please them, please them!"
(Sadly, THIS was your life)
But you could have said no
If you'd wanted to
You could have said no
If you'd wanted to
BPI, MTV, BBC
"Please them!, Please them!"
(Sadly, this was your life)
But you could have said no
If you'd wanted to
You could have walked away
... couldn't you?
I touched you at the soundcheck
You had no real way of knowing
In my heart I begged "take me with you...
I don't care where you're going..."
But to you I was faceless
I was fawning, I was boring
A child from those ugly new houses
Who could never begin to know
Who could never really know
Best of! Most of!
Satiate the need
Slip them into different sleeves!
Buy both, and feel deceived
Climber - new entry, re-entry
World tour! ("media whore")
"Please the Press in Belgium!"
(THIS was your life...)
And when it fails to recoup?
Well, maybe:
You just haven't earned it yet, baby
I walked a pace behind you at the soundcheck
You're just the same as I am
What makes most people feel happy
Leads us headlong into harm
So, in my bedroom in those ugly new houses
I dance my legs down to the knees
But me and my 'true love'
Will never meet again...
At the record company meeting
On their hands - at last! - a dead star!
But they can never taint you in my eyes
They can never touch you now
No, they cannot hurt you my darling
They cannot touch you now
But me and my 'true love'
Will never meet again

The ironical thing about that, is that The Smiths catalogue isn't immune to the odd deluxe reissue here and there.

I guess it's a bit like Ben Elton was in the eighties, complaining against Margaret Thatcher, but only from the position that the opposition wasn't in power, and he wasn't paying 65% income tax mainly BECAUSE the opposition wasn't in power.

I only buy what I don't already have. For example, with Queen Forever I didn't bother with the songs I already own on the studio albums, I simply downloaded the "new" tracks and was done with it. I still buy the live DVDs, with the exception of the annual Wembley release we seem to get. I already own the concert on DVD and it's fine as is. Don't need it re-re-re-re-re-remastered and re-re-re-re-re-re-packaged. I did buy the 2011 remasters because I wanted to upgrade the 1991 catalog and I also got a few bonus tracks for my troubles. If other fans want to buy every re-re-re-re-release that's fine. Me, I'll hold out for material I don't own.

Funny innit?

Between Freddie's passing and the early 2000's, we got MIH, a rock compilation with one new track and one remix, and a third Greatest Hits album, that most fans would rearrange if they were given "the buttons".

In the past five years, we've had all 15 studio albums remastered with bonus tracks, a compilation with three "new" tracks, not counting Budapest, we've had two live sets that people have been screaming for, for years, and now we have the BBC sessions.

Being fair, the last five years have been immensely more productive than the previous twenty combined, yet the level of complaining seems to have had the opposite trend.

I've wondered that who controls the bands image and the design when it comes to releasing new products?
It feels that after the release of Innuendo, the quality and the artwork have suffered a lot when it comes on the visual side of things with the new releases.
Or is it just me? :D

Yeah, I don't think the album covers have been amazing from Queen Rocks onwards but I kind of get the feeling it's a horse designed by committee. I wonder, are Brian and Roger involved with the design of the cover (which I assume they once were) or do they just come in and go 'yeah, that one's fine'?

I say 'Bring it on'. as I'm happy with anything they can release these days. Ok it may be that us older fans can be left feeling that we are being 'ripped off' as you put it, however there are many newer fans out there who may not quite have the same level of knowledge yet, or heard everything. I liked the recent early live stuff. I also think that the Beeb package is better than the original recordings of 'live at the beeb'......if you dont like to buy everything ...thats fair enough though.

Boycott Queen releases?

If a new product is something I like the look of, I buy it. If not, I don't.

Isn't that what everyone does...? Apparently not, or else this thread wouldn't exist.
