"Can someone tell me why I should get these new albums, when I have GH on vinyl from 1st time round."

So you can contribute to there bank accounts just like all the other crappy releases the last 20 years(except maybe one or two). They have become really pathetic. Bought the bbc box set and i realized what a waste of money that was, they got me, i'm the fool and it's my fault, even for being a queen fan for over 35 years i felt robbed.

For a more Sensible Answer.

GH1 is the first time on 2LP's. The original 1981 was on 1LP which meant the music didn't have much fidelity as there was upto 30 minutes of music per side. For optimum sound quality LP's should have around 23 minutes of music per side. Any more than that then the cutting volume is greatly reduced.

Although GH2 was a big seller it was released at a time when vinyl was deemed a lesser format now that CD Players were taking hold. Copies of the originals are out there but they are becoming more expensive.

Plus it's nice to get shiny new copies of these albums on Vinyl.

Plus, they're not necessarily for you - GH 1&2 are Queen's biggest sellers, vinyl sales are building, so good business sense says that Universal should have them on catalogue, alongside the rest of the catalogue.

Thats about it - it's just a catalogue release on a format that they not currently available on. We are not making too much of a song and dance about it, but we are of course letting people its out there. We are not looking for a chart placing or for it to blow the doors off, it'll just sell through for those who want it. Welcome to the music industry.

Lol to Administrator.

Great post Stagnation. Excellent information as I did not know that about the twenty three minute information. May I ask where you learned that, eh?

I do wish that these came in some pretty color version like the "Studio Albums Collection" AND it would have been cool if they were in some sort of box set for the gold concept (of the 1994/1995 two c.d. collection) though I guess that could be a little tricky since the "Studio Albums Collection" already has a gold cover but not necessarily I guess, eh?

I'm a bit surprised that they didn't also reissue Greatest Hits 3 and offer a vinyl edition of "The Platinum Collection" in addition to selling them separately. I know that the third collection isn't thought of as highly as the first two; but I wouldn't mind getting it on vinyl at a decent price.

Out of all the Queen albums available, the first Greatest Hits is the one I have the most of.

I actively went round every country I visited to try and get a "regional" copy of that album. I don't know why, I just did, so consequently although I probably didn't realise it, I have it about fifty or sixty times on vinyl alone. How do they all mount up? Three USA, two Canadian, about half a dozen German (some with Spread Your Wings on, some with Under Pressure on them), two or three French, a Japanese one, an Italian one, two Russian ones, two Bulgarian ones, a Brazilian one, a Spanish one, a Portuguese one, about twenty five British ones, a few various colours bootleg ones, etc.

And guess what, I'll be buying this new reissue as well.

Doesn't mean you guys have to. I'm just a Queen nut-case, that's my excuse.

2016 Version :

1991: First press

Seems to be faithful to the original. It even came with a booklet!

Is that a UK first pressing because the version I have is on Parlophone and contains no book but what looks to be included in the book is on the inner sleeves?

No, it's not a UK one, and I don't even think it's a European one either. In Europe GHII was on Parlophone continent wide, not EMI.

Plastic inner sleeves could mean a variety of places, and if I had to guess, I'd say either Far East (Japan etc) or South America, and most places in South America they were on Parlophone too.

Yes, you are right, I can see some eastern letters next to EMI on the plastic inner sleeve there.

Doesn't actually look like Japanese from a distance, and blurred as it is, but possibly from somewhere round that part of the world.

I've looked into South Korean, Indonesian, Hong Kong, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian, South American and a whole host of releases from around the world. Any ideas where the picture came from?
