Everyone is still watching the concert. Brian's "Three blind mice" solo is exquisite :D

Well, that was an exercise in alternately "FUCK, there's footage of that???" and "Wait, go back, show me more and stop talking over it"

Recording sessions for It's Late, Champions, Melancholy Blues, including three of them starting to mix Champions.
Soundcheck of TYMD, Brian arguing with Freddie at another soundtcheck
Tour rehearsals at Shepperton - discussing the setlist "You can't say We WILL Rock You AFTER you've rocked them"
Some party with a paper cup fight, drunk Roger and clearly a good time brewing
More backstage stuff (some already seen)
Bits of Houston ( I think that and possibly Earl's Court are the only concert footage)
More interviews (John's passenger seat interview is in RT's Range Rover as they both drive to Shepperton for rehearsals

plus...Freddie drinking out of a can with the four-pack plastic still attached, and Brian's stereotypical 70's Y fronts

There's so much material, it's ideal for a Blu-Ray - an hour of main content, plus extras of - extended rehearsal, extended studio, etc

In short, it's both fabulous and frustrating.

Yeah, loved it. So many bits which are recognisable from the Days of our Lives documentary but extended, and you just have to know that there is more than was shown. Hopefully it's safe in the BBC archive and will come out at some point.

Also, it's presumably going to be on iplayer for a while at least, so repeated viewings are possible.

Wow. Thanks for the report. Seems like an epic documentary. But can anyone confirm if this is the same as "The American Dream" that comes with the 40th Anniversary album box, or not?

Confirm, no.

Strongly believe that it's at least 95% the same - yes

It sounds very good. A question, because I can't watch it in Canada. Inquiring mind/s ( ok at least mine :lookround: ) would like to know what was Freddie drinking from the can? Soda, beer...I wanna know.

My first reaction after watching it was “why on earth have they been sitting on this footage for so long?” There are so many golden nuggets of footage it makes you wonder what else they are sat on. The studio footage is the one that makes it for me... believe me it’s much better than ‘one vision’ studio footage from 85. It shows the band working really creatively.

The tour footage is magical - it puts you in a snap shot of what touring was like in 1977 - something even Cameron Crowe didn’t manage to do in ‘almost famous’. It’s very real!

I understand why they put the Queen+AL footage in there - more to bring it up to date, and in a way makes a change to seeing Wembley (again). In fact there was no moustached Freddie in there at all - which is strange for QPL. Plus all the interviews are from 1977 - no current ones with Maylor.

A great a watch and deserves a single stand alone release with unused footage - can they not bundle it with the ‘Rags to Rhapsody’ doc?

So.... when is the Jazz documentary coming out?

Are you serious? I was out on my future son in law's stag night but I would have preferred to be out on my daughter's hen night than watching QAL.

True Queen fans would have been watching the documentary rather than a show where the singer forgets the words.

I'm highly offended by that!
Just because
Spoiler! :
The documentary hasn't aired in Canada yet

Spoiler! :
 :P

Kidding aside...many people from the other side of the pond of who watched it, really liked it. I hope it makes it way over here, HBO maybe?

I found it entertaining, but nothing special. I liked seeing them in the studio, but for the most part, they had nothing interesting to say. I think they liked to think of themselves as 'sex and drugs and rock n roll', but the reality seems to be more like 'tea and biscuits'.

I certainly have no burning desire to watch it again and wouldn't be happy to pay for it as a commercial release.

They meant the Queen concert being shown after the documentary.

Absolutely stunning. I never imagined there would be this much unseen footage (and the quality - on the whole - is exquisite) in an hour long documentary and I never imagined I would be as moved as I was watching the boys - so young and alive and full of positivity and hunger - in the studio or backstage, etc. I honestly cannot think of one negative thing to say about this beautiful little film...

...and it has - and I say this with hand on heart - made me fall in love once more with a band that has both enthralled me and infuriated me in equal measures over the years (with regards to releases).

My only small (nay, tiny) gripe is that they could not have made this into something bigger, longer - it certainly cries out for an epic, two-three hour documentary.

I cried, I laughed, I fell in love all over again. And I even forgave them for the upcoming rip-off box set. I honestly never thought they could excite me again in this way...I was so wrong.

Are you still drunk then? You keep imagining things that don't exist

Look at the time of my comment....I was writing while watching Brian's playing his solo at London Hammersmith Apollo in 1975. The concert was aired straight after the documentary on BBC4.
Two hours of Queen last night. I know many other Queen fans were watching.

I think quite a few of those interviews WEREN'T from 1977.
