I'm guessing not. We've only had 2 anniversary albums, it that right? ANATO 30th and NotW 40th. So I don't think the odds are good, especially since tours and movies may also be distracting them this year.

Maybe a Jazz related item/gadget then, on the release date, 10th November ?

There is a market for that sort of thing, so don't give QPL any ideas
But no, I can't see Jazz being released for the 40th anniversary.

Why would they want to re release what amounts to their worse produced album. It had some (not everything) great ideas and some of the material is quite hard hitting but Roy Thomas Baker messed up big time.

I can't see them doing anything for Jazz. It's actually one of my favourites, but there's really nothing on it that makes it especially iconic.

If they got someone in to remix the album for example fully (like say Steven Wilson) would that save the album production wise? I wouldn't want someone in house from QPL doing as Brian will no doubt push his guitars forward (as well make the "guitar version" of Don't Stop Me Now the standard version).

Sound wise it's very thin and just needs beefing up a bit, with a couple of EQ changes within the Mixing stage, it could maybe be a lot better?

I'm Baffled how Roy Thomas Baker could mess up the sound on Jazz. He spent all those early years honing in on the bands sound with the harmonies etc, NOTW sounded great with Mike Stone at the helm and luckily Mack got that big sound back on 'The Game'.

It depends on the raw recordings. When they released the stems of DSMN a few years ago for the mixing competition the basic tone was already in there, so there was little you could do to, say, improve the snare drum sound. I could be wrong, but it sounded to me that the basic tone of the recordings was captured at the recording stage, not in the mix.

They could do what the Bowie camp have done with 1979's Lodger - and release a new production mix alongside the original. Original producer Tony Visconti mixed the first side of the album as a pet project to play for David Bowie during the making of his final albums, and db approved for Tony to finish the job and for it to be added to his catalogue reissue plans which were laid out before he died.

The original album has always been hampered by its production but the new mix has quickly become one of my favourite Bowie records.

I'd love to see Jazz be given the same treatment if the tapes all survive.

It has what is currently their most popular song in the UK on it. I'd wager that's a good enough hook to wangle a reissue on.

It's far more likely that they do a 40th anniversary for that song, then, than for the album in its entirety.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger did not compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.
