Brian works with Tim Staffell again!

Postby Khashoggi » Tue May 08, 2018 9:48 pm

Apparently Brian is working with Tim Staffell in the studio. Does anybody have a clue what they could be working on? Could you imagine a "Smile" reunion? What could it be? I'm quite curious, to be honest.

I don't know what it could be, but I'm loving the pic! Always great to see two friends in Queen history together again :D

Most probably a new solo album from Tim Staffel.
Cool.

Outside possibility of playing him some remaster versions of Brian's earliest compositions for his solo box? People should remember that Brian's "the lot", may actually be, "a lot". One can dream

Dropped in? This is very interesting!
Trying not to get ahead of myself, but either way, these two posts ad pics are great to see. I want more info instead of cryptic posts.

Things have gone very quite on Brian's potential solo collection, I really hope it's still in the works.

Very good to see. Tim is such a good guy and so important in the history of Queen's beginnings (and ultimately rock n' roll in general!). He is so self-effacing and philosophical about his role – have heard him described as John the Baptist or as a sparring partner before he made way for the main man.

A talented artist and animator in his own right too... responsible for Thomas The Tank Engine coming to TV no less.

In every sense he has a legacy to be proud of and so pleased to see Brian helping him out with whatever project this is!

2018 is the 50th anniversary of Smile.

Although I guess if Roger isn't involved, it probably isn't Smile related. But saying Roger isn't involved is a bit of an assumption on my part.

I had the pleasure of meeting him while he was in the middle of recording aMIGO. My Dad's cousin played guitar on the album and he invited me round when Tim was there rehearsing. A thoroughly lovely bloke and very humble - his attitude seemed to be that Queen couldn't have happened if he hadn't been there, but equally it couldn't have happened if he'd stayed - I'd say that's a fairly sound assessment.

Chatted again with him briefly at the Stormtroopers In Stilettos exhibition and he said he remembered our meeting, but I'm not sure whether that was just him being polite.

Nile Rodgers was at Abbey Road to film some promo footage for a video for his own stuff - not re riding with Brian. They just dropped in on each other for a pic.

Brian recording with Tim is no doubt for the movie, likely some recreation of some Smile audio.

The funny thing is, Smile's recordings have never had a proper release in the UK. Ever.

Surely their 50th anniversary is as good a time as any to change that? And I say that as someone who has both Gettin' Smile and Ghost of a Smile already.
"Years will come, years will go, and politicians will do f*** all to make the world a better place. But all over the world, young men and young women will always dream dreams and put those dreams into song."

Who owns the rights to those Smile recordings?
