I wouldn't mind betting Disney will push for one.

I'd like to see someone do a movie based on John Taylor's (bass player for Duran Duran) "In the Pleasure Groove". While no Queen of course, Duran Duran had a pretty interesting story and John Taylor's journey in particular is very "1980s": talented kid, rise to stardom, hard crash into drugs and alcohol, quits the band because he realizes it's killing him, gets clean, rejoins the band, happy ending. They can end it with DD's Wembley concert in the early 2000s which, while no Live Aid, was a triumphant return for the band.

Glitz, glamour, 80s, sex, drugs, rock n roll. And Cole Sprouse (from "Riverdale") is a dead ringer for John in the 1980s.

Plus we might get to hear some Duran Duran songs from their early years, which are actually very good and could be a surprise for those who thought they only did "Hungry Like the Wolf" and "Rio."

It's not like any of them need the money, which is the usual reason for sequels.

I agree with you, Brian Roger and Jim won't do a sequel. That's a horrible idea anyway. But I bet over the next 12 months they get a green light for a We Will Rock You film.

Actually I think you're right and I think it's just the sort of thing that Disney would love to get on with!

I think a WWRY film is inevitable now and I have stated for years that I would love Pixar to do it along the lines of The Incredibles visuals!

I'm sure Brian said years ago (before a biopic was being talked about) that Ben Elton had written a screenplay for WWRY. For whatever reason, WWRY: The Movie was never pursued. I would hope that whatever reasons it was decided that it wasn't a good idea aren't ignored now.

When I think of Mamma Mia, it's not a film I particularly like but it's a very optimistic, bright, happy film. I can't imagine WWRY being anything but dark and down. You can get away with that on stage but would WWRY really work as a film? I dunno. Would love to read that screenplay though, if it does exist. I guess it it was greenlit, they'd probably have another look at the screenplay anyway and it could be totally reimagined.

Disney would send in the militia and do the business I'm sure. Create a screenplay with Ben Elton that would be screen friendly for maximum exposure and appeal. It may suck but it would probably get the cash registers running!

Bohemian Rhapsody is at $199,732,484 in US. Probably passing the 200 mark as we speak.

Its a shame the movie didnt get a release in China. I dont know how big of a name Queen is there. But I looked at the top 10 in the box office there. Would have made a billion if it reached top 10.

1 Operation Red Sea n/a $575,849,199 2/16
2 Detective Chinatown 2 $541,406,438 2/16
3 Dying To Survive n/a $451,176,639 7/5
4 Hello Mr. Billionaire n/a $366,961,907 7/27
5 Avengers: Infinity War $359,543,153 5/11
6 Monster Hunt 2 n/a $356,336,096 2/16
7 Aquaman WB $293,094,544 12/7
8 Venom (2018) n/a $272,243,405 11/9
9 Jurassic World: Fallen $261,224,207 6/15
10 Ready Player One WB $218,471,784 3/30

But looking at the type of movies doing well there, its probably not likely that it would have made 200 mill.
