Bohemian Rhapsody movie awards

Postby KNIGHT » Wed Oct 17, 2018 9:12 pm

The film awards season is an annual time period between November and March every year, worldwide, where a majority of important film award events take place.
This year the season will end with the Academy Awards in late February or early March.

This are the most famous awards ceremonies:

November
Hollywood Film Awards

December
National Board of Review
Los Angeles Film Critics Association

January
National Society of Film Critics
Critics' Choice Movie Awards
Golden Globe Awards
Writers Guild of America Awards
Producers Guild of America Awards
Screen Actors Guild Awards

February
Directors Guild of America Awards
Satellite Awards
British Academy Film Awards
Golden Raspberry Awards - I hope not :red:
Academy Awards

With the problems around the director Bryan Singer, I think that him will not receive alot of awards....and that could be a problem for the Best Picture Category. Because normally both categories are tie together.

Let see what happens…..

Some very good critics for Rami….

https://www.slashfilm.com/bohemian-rhapsody-early-buzz/

"Already Deadline’s Pete Hammond wrote that Malek is “among top contenders for the best actor Oscar,” and every critic had words of praise for his performance as the legendary singer, who tragically passed away from AIDS in 1991."

Golden Globes are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, so Queen's worldwide popularity should help a lot there, more so than the Oscars which I think are still pretty USA-centric.

Yeah, I've seen a few articles that say Ethan Hawke may be Rami's main competition for Best Actor Oscar, rather than Christian Bale. It certainly doesn't look like Rami and BR are a lock for anything, and honestly I think that's OK. I don't think any win is going to beat that Golden Globes win. That was pretty special because it was unexpected.

At the Critic's Choice Awards tonight, Bohemian Rhapsody was up for three awards: Best Hair and Makeup, Best Costumes, and Best Actor for Rami Malek.

It didn't win anything. Best Costumes went to Black Panther, Best Hair and Makeup went to Vice (I think), and Best Actor went to Christian Bale, who also won Best Actor in a Comedy.

I do think that's weird, that there's two separate categories for Best Actor/Actress and actors can be nominated and win in both categories. Why not just have one?

And it makes sense they win the Golden Globes, which collates votes internationally. The movie was an international success. Don't think the Oscars have the same broad global voting regime?
