Fingers crossed that they will perform 'We Will Rock You' on Oscars night. It will be unprecedented. Totally out of left field. No one will see it coming.

^Don't make me cringe.

Honestly, how couldn't they perform Bohemian Rhapsody? Would love to see a projection of Freddie opening things and then Adam coming in for the second verse...then going into the operatic section with a quick montage of various clips of Freddie...and then back to the live hard rock section with Adam, and finally ending with another projection of Freddie. Short, sweet, crowd pleasing, and emotional. I'm not sure that they'll have a mini-set or anything, so if it had to be just one song, that'd be the obvious choice given the movie's title and it being arguably their finest hit.

When they played at the London Olympics, the last thing I ever would have guessed they would play would be Brian's guitar solo but they went ahead and did that. So I'm going to go ahead and guess their set will be Brian's guitar solo.

I love the guy. I'm a big fan and look up to him. But if he never played that solo again I would be so f*cking happy. It was great on the Sheer Heart Attack album, and on the first couple of tours, but it just...didn't go away. And when he's got great melodies like Last Horizon or Bijou why settle for the same freaking guitar riffs over and over...and over...and over again. It's not even all that great. My dad, on his first Queen concert, got up and used the bathroom during it. Hell, in Vegas, after listening to the solo 6 times in concert, I finally decided to just get up and use the bathroom too. I wonder if Freddie or any of the other boys ever had anything to say about it. Or maybe they just loved having a 10 minute break!!

And in the unlikelihood that Brian ever browses the forum and reads my post...so sorry, Brian. Mean no offense. I still think you're brilliant. :)

Time limits I expect. I'd hate to see and hear an edited version of Bohemian Rhapsody. The song deserves to be played in full if they choose to do that.
Having Freddie's vocals at the end would be wonderful. I hope Freddie and John will be shown somehow too.

Yes, followed by a bit of '39, just to cover the full gamut.

Many years ago the Oscars has Michael Flatley on to do the opening dance from his "Lord of the Dance" show.

WHY they had him on is anybody's guess; he had eff-all to do with the movies. But he was popular, so on he went.

What they did was had him dance the opening dance from "Lord of the Dance", and behind him they showed a montage of movie clips. It was the thinnest of threads but it kinda sorta worked:

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Queen ends up doing something similar. The band plays while scenes from the movies - either a history or just last year's films - play on a screen behind them.

It would be cool if they could play the 20th Century Fox logo just like they did at the start of the movie. :-)

Earlier I read on Facebook (sorry no link) that Queen's set will take the place of those obnoxious 20 minute monologues. So we're looking at a good chunk of time for the band to perform.

Which means there's plenty of room to include a lengthy Brian May solo.

I almost wish DOOL was a bigger hit on this side of the pond. If it was, maybe their could be a chance of that being performed. I'd rather that than Brian's solo :tomato:

If they give Q+AL a full 20 minutes to open the show (and that is a BIG if) then that would lead me to suspect they re-create Live Aid.
Selling off some of my Queen collection which you can find at http://evilbaby.tripod.com/Queen_Collection_Sale.html please PM me if you are interested in anything.

Surely they won't do that
No..please don't have Q+AL recreate Live Aid. I'd hate that.

Adam did a live instagram and apparently when asked what they were performing he said it's a song they've done loads of times which makes it sound like it will only be one.

Impossible. They're missing the most important ingredient.

Freddie.
