WWRY questions

Postby icy » Thu Jan 24, 2013 12:02 am

To the ones who have followed the WWRY for a few years, a few questions.
Did you expect it to last as long as it has?
What were the best and worst performances of WWRY you have seen?
Who are/were your favorite characters? Least favorite?
Do you have any memorabilia from it, if so what are your favorites?
Do you think it was/is a good thing for Queen or not?
Anything else you like to add?

Definitely didn't think it would last as long. Who could have predicted that? Hardly any shows last as long, especially in a theatre as big as the Dominion.

I always fall in love with whoever is Scara so probably would have to say that's my favourite character.

I have a Red Special fridge magnet I bought at the Dominion Doesn't really count, does it. I do have both versions of the soundtrack.

I think it's a great thing for Queen. Couple thousand people leave the Dom (not to mention other productions) worldwide EVERY night after hearing all those songs played live. One thing even after seeing it 10 times is how proud I feel for those kids knocking the songs out the park and also during the last few songs where everyone in the audience is on their feet clapping and singing away...long after Queen ceased to exist they can still get the people going via WWRY.

A lot of the jokes are still terrible.

No, I didn't expect it to last this long.

Best performance, or perhaps that should be 'most enjoyed show', well that would be Freddie's 60th, an amazing atmosphere, in fact it was my best 'Queen' related day ever including all of the live shows with Freddie...it was a magnificent, emotional, super-charged Queen fan atmosphere...wow, was that really so long ago?!! I hope we can do it all again some time, because the people I know from here are the best, just the best...

Worst? Well, not necessarily the worst performance...but I fell asleep whilst watching the show in Cologne after a really long day travelling... :P

Fave characters...not really, I don't do the characters, it's 'that' music that excites me...but Kerry Ellis was pretty damned good as Meat and Peter Johnannsen, Mig Ayesa, Tony Vincent and Ricardo Afonso all stood out as Galileo's for me.

I have loads of memorabilia....a signed copy of a programme by Brian after meeting him in Las Vegas....and stuff from all over the world, but none of that comes close to the people that I have met along the way.

It was a fantastic thing for Queen to do. I hated the idea at first and I was very vocal againt it...but the music won through in the end...but the real pleasure was meeting so many great people. It's not over yet either, there will be more QOL meet-ups for sure.

WWRY when it was about to open in Toronto. It was the first thing I've ever got excited about while being a part of QOL. If it lasted more than it did, I would have gone to see it. I have a tee, programme, ticket stub my cousin picked up for me, she saw it and very much enjoyed iteven though Suzie Mcneil wasn't there on the night, which is a shame.
I didn't know what to think about the musical when I first heard about it. I know I wanted to see it, even more so after reading that people here did, and had meet ups around it.
It really has been the thing to bring people together, only second to the Tribute IMO.

I believe that might have been filmed at the 10th Anniversary special performance last year. Anyway, I witnessed her leaving the Dominion, pissed as a shithouse rat, staggering in a zig-zag for about forty yards, when her destination was only ten away to start with, and literally falling into her taxi.

But forgot how to learn.

Not sure what that has to do with the questions I asked.
From what I've seen and read about her, no she wouldn't have done a great job, probably not even a good one.

That reminds me....wasn't Katie Price once linked with WWRY? I can't remember any details but I'm sure remember something about it.

I just bring it up because I guess she's like the 21st century equivalent of Sam Fox.

Yep I would agree with that re Freddies 60th. A great day - did the tour of London with Kes and others - had the show - mingled around afterwards outside the bar they we having their party at and met a very drunk Brian and Roger afterwards!

She was! I still have one of her 12" picture disks somewhere.
