I truly think Sam Smith broke barriers down these last few years in many ways. I look at it like this, Sam is well Sam, doing things their way. I'm thankful for it. They are out there changing the face of music and I think it cannot be easy for them to be so open as they are.
I'm a huge fan. Their journey has been fascinating to watch. How dull it would be without him and a few other artists in the past 10 to 15 years. Sam continue to evolve.
I don't think he has broken down any barriers of any worth though. And how has he changed the face of music? He hasn't done anything. He has just said that he doesn't identify as male or female - hardly brave or revolutionary. I don't know much of his music but from what I have seen of him I think he is pretty boring and predictable.

But, saying that, he still deserves to be who he wants without hatred being thrown at him.
This is one of those times we agree to disagree. And that's OK, no worries.
Before Sam, I can't think of another male artist in recent years who has evolved so much. From a blue eyed soul singer to where he is now...wow, I find it incredible, inspirational even. All IMO.
I think they are a wonderful singer and song writer. They are doing things their way, and no lie, I adore it. I do think they are brave. I'm glad they are around, but the hate they get...I wish them all the best in the world. I will never understand the hate and bitterness just for being them.

You claim bashing way too easily. I wasn't bashing him for that comment .
I decided to bring up Lambert's own words what he said about a straight man playing a part of a gay man...because I feel talent should come first in playing a part. Lambert then tried to back pedal his statement saying he was a little sarcastic. Yea not good enough in my books.
I don't follow every little thing Sam Smith does or wears Why would I bring up Sam wearing fur in a topic that it hadn't even been touched on before your post? Again,I don't like e when ANYONE WEARS FUR FAKE OR NOT. I said that in the other thread. So why try to point score in here?
Well, you never mentioned it here, although Sam wears it often. If you aren’t blind, you must have noticed.

Now you say, Adam tried to back pedal. That’s your personal interpretation of what was said. And it’s clear, that you always assume the bad.
The media decided to make a molehill out of a single sentence in a comment section. The meaning of that sentence wasn’t clear, because it was never an official statement or anything. Adam was only able to explain it later.
Hint: It’s not about being sarcastic (which he indeed often is, but that’s not the point here).
You are the only one here who has ever mentioned them wearing fur in this thread, no one else has before today. Am I supposed to comment on and notice every little thing Sam does and wears?? Hell no, because for me I like their music. Should I post about Sam wearing fur just because you think I'm bashing Lambert? That what it seems like now. No, I'm not blind. Go on, put try to put another artist in front of Lambert all because you don't like or agree what I am posting about Lambert.

As for Lambert, once again, open mouth inset foot. If he wants to do more acting he should be a little more careful in what he says especially given what he was talking about. He came across as bitter IMO, at the thought of a straight man playing a gay man. Funny thing about Lambert though, he had no issues about Rami playing Freddie. Where was or is his statements about that? Not a peep from him about that. It's talent that should come before someone's sexuality in playing a role.

I like the song but the video is a little much. It doesn’t bother me at all but I can see how it’s a little too much for some people. Almost five million views in only six days.

I just don't get the controversy over the video. The most shocking thing about it is the size of Smithie's titties.

Apparently the new video is 'iconic' according to many on Youtube. But of course it is. I remember when that word actually meant something.

And then there are those saying how brave it is. Nah. Bronski Beat's Smalltown Boy was brave; this is just tits and glitter.

Maybe this is a gay thing but my partner and I both laughed at the streams of water. We immediately thought of water sports and Sam takes a stream in his mouth. I’m 99.9% sure that’s what it’s supposed to be.

Iconic means absolutely nothing now and it hasn’t for years. It’s been used to death to describe pop songs and videos.
