Going senile, then. Sorry.

As an aside, who ever knew Mr/Dr/Prof May was this good on the old Joanna? You can just about hear it on the master, drowned by a sea of guitars.

A notable "first" for the Beatles, in amongst many.

A song written in 1962, which when eventually recorded, prominently featured violin played by a Jazz player called Jack Fallon, and a long intro called A Beginning, that was eventually used elsewhere. Released as an A side single in Scandanavia, it got to #1.

The pianos on it, were fed through a rotating Leslie loud speaker.

An American group called The Band, said it was the best thing The Beatles recorded for the album it came from.

What's the song?

Not really many more clues, I could give.

It's Don't Pass Me By, Ringo's first composition to be recorded by The Beatles, from the 1968 album The Beatles (aka The White Album).

Never had a clue it was a single ANYWHERE in Europe, let alone a #1.

Never though Mr Starkey was that strong a songwriter, either.

Not sure if we've already had this one, but still...

Which is the only Beatles UK #1 single, to feature only two of the group on it?

The Ballad Of John And Yoko. Paul plays bass and drums and John plays guitar and vocals. Is there piano on it? I can't remember.

Correct

John Lennon – lead vocal, lead guitars, acoustic guitar, percussion

Paul McCartney – harmony vocal, bass guitar, drums, piano, maracas

Banter from the original tracking

Lennon (on guitar): "Go a bit faster, Ringo.

"McCartney (on drums): "OK, George!"

Question

Which Queen / Solo release was promoted with the slogan "Rock The House Down With Freddie"?

Trying to think of a context they'd have got away with that, as the band always seemed to prefer being advertised AS a band.

A stab in the dark, I'll try We Will Rock You, the original release of the Montreal film.
