Cicely Tyson, purposeful and pioneering actress, dead at 96.

She was a wonderful actress and a great role model for young black women. She will be missed. RIP Cicely.

Sir Tom Moore, the Army veteran who raised £30m for the NHS. RIP Captain Tom.

He was 100, and because of catching pneumonia, and trying to beat that, hadn't been able to have his dose of vaccine yet. A real hero. Had a UK #1 record, as well.

Months after, I'm still baffled why he got a blue and white birthday cake, with RAF insignia all over it, and a Spitfire flypast.

Maybe a drive by, from a bloody great big tank, would have been more appropriate for an Army Captain, and ex-tank commander. Still....

I'm reading an article about him from the Guardian. I'm relieved to know he didn't die alone and his family was with him.
I don't know why his passing away is making me cry so much.

He was only after generating a few thousand, to buy some little prezzies for the nurses. It caught the public's imagination, and turned into something really big, millions and millions.

It's truly inspiring what he did. And truly amazing he helped raise that much money, I didn't realise it was so much.
Maybe people can donate in his memory type of thing now? I know I would do it.
