Deacon/Mercury

Serious discussion about the band known as QUEEN.

A quick google search (only first page of results) shows all these sources claiming Brian said he (not John) had started it off:

Perhaps, of course, they're all wrong and they all copied and pasted from each other (or from another source which had a typo or whatever), but if so, do you know if there's an audio version anywhere, or a scanned form of the article? That would certainly put it to rest.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger did not compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

First of all hi everybody! I sometimes post under the same username on QZ, and have been reading QOL for like a thousand years, but for some strange reason never posted here. But finally I can contribute something, so here we go! :D

I've got said interview on vinyl (bought it in the late 80s, beautiful picture disc), and it's "which JOHN started off". I've also just found snippets of it on YT: https://youtu.be/H_UvXQI7fVY (the part about PISCTP starts around 6:15)
Guten Tag und Guten Abend !!! We had a great time in Cologne. Drinking beer in the sunshine beside the Mighty Rhein brought back many memories for me..... (Brian May, 2004)

Brill, ta!

So it was indeed a case of one source getting it wrong and then everybody else (myself included) replicating the mistaken version over and over.

phpBB [video]

As for the comments at the beginning of this thread, this interview shows John talking about them needing a break after the 1986 tour. :)

Speaking of Mr. John Deacon, it was on today's date in 1971 he became a member of Queen. As Brian puts it, "the birth of a legend"!

Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?

Is there something wrong with him at the end when he is looking down like that? I just know he used to have at the least a drinking problem and you can see his psychological collapse with people asking for autographs something like ten years ago on the street at night time going to "We Will Rock You". I did not know if he felt guilty about something?

I know the video you're referring to. I was under the assumption that maybe mentally he's not well. Not sure why, and I'd love to know, but it's more important to me that we leave him in peace. I thought the crowd around him was kind of rude. He just wanted to be left alone, I guess.
