I finally got around to burning the Friday night show from the DVD to some CDs, and I've been giving it a spin for probably the first time since the twofer DVD came out. I think the band in general might be little tighter on the Saturday, but Freddie's voice is far stronger in the Friday concert. Who Wants to Live Forever is just magnificent, and Bo Rhap blows the Saturday performance away as well.

This song is like air and water...the stuff you need. Very grounded.
Procol Harum has aged well with me and this video is way cool.

I'm in the middle of a week long binge on 'important' music by serious artists which certainly means I'll be playing "The Jump Around" by House Of Pain by this weekend. It's a cycle.

I see your Traffic classic and raise you a Moody Blues!

I saw Denny Laine in concert about 15 years ago at the State Fair. I wasn't expecting to be blown away but I was. Lots of between song talk about his time with Moody Blues and Wings.

OK, I'll give you one Moody Blues in return. ;)

The thing I find cool about the Moodys (Moodies?) is that they were basically a retro band and came back solid with "Octave" ('78) and "Long Distance Voyager" ('81). Both those albums included some of their classic songwriting while embracing a newer sound that found new fans.

This will keep me busy for a little while. That band I used to hang with played a lot of Moody Blues and thus I got to know their earlier music more than I would have had I not known them.
