Freddie Mercury 24th November 1991.

Serious discussion about the band known as QUEEN.

I feel both sad and happy today. Sad because we lost a great musician and human being 23 years ago, and happy because we got him in the first place.

Freddie isn't dead, he just isn't around anymore.

A fantastic musician, composer, vocalist and performer all rolled into in one. There's has never been anyone like him. Never will be.

I still think — like the audience at the Olympic closing ceremonies in London did on that day — that even on film, Freddie is more charismatic than performers who perform live today.

I will be playing a few Queen albums today definitely, and maybe Mr Bad Guy as well.
Hot Space is actually only my 6th favourite Queen album.
(But is a very underrated album in my opinion).

Remembered always, loved always. Thanks for the years of great music and being one of my personal inspirations for so many reasons.

I have been trying to think of the right thing to say in honor of Freddie's memory but words seem so inadequate.

Nothing I say can capture how many lives Freddie touched and continues to touch 24 years after his tragic passing.

I hope he is smiling, drinking and having a blast wherever he is.

Listened to Innuendo, MIH and watched the DVD The Great Pretender. A Winter's Tale brought a lump to the old throat for sure.

Mother Love too. A song which I avoided for months until yesterday. I'm so glad/proud Brian, Roger and John did Made In Heaven. And wow, what it took for Freddie to sing some of the songs...pure grit and determination, and dare I say guts.

It's kind of weird for me.....I feel like I don't feel quite the same way as others do on this day, simply because I didn't really get into Queen until after '91, so it's like it's always been an established fact that he's gone. So I kind of feel the same way about it as I would about someone that died before I was born, like say, Jimi Hendrix....still, can't help be a bit sad that such a great talent, and someone who helped create the music that's been the soundtrack to my life for about the past 20-plus years, isn't still around!

Anyway, this song about says it all....

24 Years Without You FREDDIE. Still Miss You.

Postby DREAMASTER » Tue Nov 24, 2015 11:17 pm

24 years ago we lost one of the best singers, best composers and one of the best performers in the world of Music, that left us too soon but left a great legacy in all levels. Freddie I still miss, even more in these days of our lives where mainstream Music has become crap and really just money. YOU always be alive while people don't forget your music and keep listening to it. GO FREDDIE!!!

Sadly it was this morning 24 years ago that a lot of people were waking up to the sad news that Freddie had passed away. I can still remember it so clearly. I wasn't working at the time and used to listen to Radio 1 all the time but never before 10am. I woke up early that morning and for some reason just turned on the radio and heard the news about Freddie, I was just stunned. A mate phoned me to chat about it but I had to make an excuse and put the phone down because I burst out crying.
The rest of the day was spent listening to the radio news and watching whatever news came up on t.v (no 24 hour news channels in those days kids! well except for a select few). Listened to the radio 1 tribute show that evening when they read out a faxed statement from John,Brian,Roger & Jim Beech, then watched the BBC 1 tribute programme late that night.
A very sad day.
