Twenty five years. Sometimes seems like just yesterday.

25 years ago today, just doesn't seem like it at all, we still miss you Freddie thanks for everything you did for the fans in your lifetime and for everything you gave us and I think it's fair to say he was Rock's most important star and icon and it's a loss that is still felt as much today as it was 25 years ago.

I started really getting into Queen just around the time of Freddie's death. That means I've been listening to them for about a quarter of a century. Or over 60% of my life, to put it another way. Not sure what my point here is, except RIP Freddie....

I have never thought about it that way before :o :wow:

One thing...it amazed me when I came to QOL and became friendly with fans who attended so many Queen concerts through the years, met the band, attended the Freddie Tribute...there are still times that gives me goosebumps. Earlier tonight( Thursday) it gave me goosebumps when I watched the Freddie Tribute.

I don't know, I feel kind of weird at times like these. Or, at least, I don't feel like a lot of other Queen fans do. I never really knew of Queen when Freddie was alive. I knew of them, but not much. I don't feel like I miss Freddie, because I never had him in the first place. Now that's not to say I don't wish he was still alive and so forth.....

This will be meaningless I suppose but I've been a Queen fan since I was 13, that would be 1984.

I am now 45. This is the first time I have been older than Freddie when he died.

Like I said, meaningless I suppose but makes me feel a little sad.

I was also born on exactly the same day Queen played their first gig with John on Bass... I always liked that.

Remember it like it was yesterday.

I was a massive Queen fan as a young un, and my world revolved around Freddie and the lads.

I remember the shock when I heard the news, even though I didn't know Freddie, I'd met him once very briefly, it knocked me sideways.

Even now looking at that video and hearing that song makes me genuinely sad.

RIP Fred, we will never ever see your like again........
So come on honey fly.......

I didn't know Freddie/Queen while Freddie was alive. I heard CLTCL plenty of times while growing up and for years, I thought Elvis was singing it  .
It sure has been odd at times, because I think if Freddie was still around...things would be so different in so many ways.

Yes, I want to add a few words before the 24th too (I will probably forget otherwise).

All I want to add is that 26 years on and I still love him with all my heart - it has not faded in all this time (longer than any love affair I have ever had!).

Keep fucking rocking up there, Freddie. And just know that no one has forgotten you, beautiful man and that you are still adored and respected the world over. And, yes, you did achieve what you had set in your sights...and then some. X
