Of all the codes, I'm most surprised (in a good way) about Collection II having a BB3000 code. This had more codes than I thought and its total shipments must therefore be higher than I was guessing.

Collection II has sold about 90,000 copies overall in Brazil, which is a very good total.

Sorry Hernán, I made a mistake. The BB-code is also for Collection, not for Collection II. I've edited my post.

Thank you, Walter. It makes far more sense this way, to be honest. I guess it was too good to be true, I should have asked you about it before concluding anything, hehe.

Two Brazil codes for Greatest Hits and Greatest Hits II:

Greatest Hits (2011)
AF8000

Greatest Hits II (2011)
AE7000

Two beautiful codes, buddy.

The only significant ones I had were AA4000 for both, but I always thought combined shipments for Greatest Hits and Greatest Hits II would now be at 20,000-25,000 by now since the 2011 reissues came out. These new codes (AF8000 for Greatest Hits and AE7000 for Greatest Hits II) would tend to reinforce my assumption: they are both likely to have shipped 20,000+ since 2011. Not bad at all.

Hey guys,

It is a pleasure to tell you that our friend MJDangerous or MJD is currently analysing Queen's sales! Finally he is working on them. Not sure how long is it going to take until it is all finished, of course. But very soon the article will be published on Chartmasters. :-D

Hernan this is great news, can't wait to see MJD's final analysis of Queen's sales, I'm hoping for Queen to at least finish in the Top10 (as shown below) maybe even slightly above Led Zeppelin! With the only acts I can think of left to analyse that will definitely make the Top10 those being Elvis, Elton and maybe AC/DC I would like to think Queen will finish inside the Top10 selling artist of all time according to MJD :-D

CSPC OVERALL SALES – ARTISTS RANKING

1 Beatles – 405,737,000 (update: Mar 2017)

Thanks Hernán great news!! A while ago, he analysed A Night At The Opera and I remember it was really interesting. While now he's going to analyse the whole discography: I can't wait! I think at this moment Queen might enter into the top-5.

Cheers, guys. I was sure you would like this news.

I would like to remember that MJDangerous' methodologies have changed a bit in the past year. For example, he had Pink Floyd at 204 million pure albums sales by 2010 and, in his recent update, they dropped to 203 million despite 7 years of massive catalogue sales. Queen will probably suffer from that too. By the look of things, we should expect 175-178 million pure albums for Queen.

The good thing is that Queen wil add massive equivalent albums sales from their music videos, physical singles, digital downloads, streaming and the multiple counting of their box sets, notably Greatest Hits I & II and Platinum Collection. Plus the reissues like the Sorrisi e Canzoni, which MJDangerous hadn't considered before. So expect an absolutely amazing total even if pure albums sales don't turn out to be as great as we were expecting last year.

I find those numbers really hard to believe. Who on earth has been buying Celine Dion albums in the last decade? She's never in the charts. Metallica have not sold 142 million, over half their album sales come from the US which would put them on about 110 million. Abba's studio albums sold well but were never huge and the only massive seller is 'Gold', I'd put them in about 110 as well. Dylan and Bowie as well, I'd put them on barely 100 each, especially Bowie, he was never really a main stream artist other than 'Let's dance'. Pink Floyd have also sold more albums than The Stones. I could go on, I'd put Queen on 185 tops. I think these figures are exaggerated and I'd love to know how they were compiled.

Nucleardolphin below is a link to the site and the data collection method used. The man responsible for this list is a very well respected expert on worldwide record sales with years and years of research, each artist you question has a detailed review of there sales total on the site. Please feel free to question his figures but you would have to back that up with data yourself, as for myself, loris, edwood and hernan who all contribute to this thread I think we all find MJD's sales total pretty accurate and reliable.

Slightlymad, thank you. I'm sure MJD knows far more than I do. My point though is that the sales have shot up for many artists in an era of slow physical album sales. Michael Jackson has sold over 100 million album in 9 years? From which albums though? I'm really looking forward to seeing how much Queen have sold, does anyone know when the figures will be released?

Those aren't just albums. The list posted by Slightlymad, which you see above, counts "equivalent albums sales", so those totals include everyhing (albums, physical singles, digital downloads, streaming and music videos) wighted using albums as "unit": 10 physical singles sold count as 3 albums, for example.

You should read the methodology, which is very well explained in the site: http://chartmasters.org/

Results are coming very soon.

I have seen some of the stuff and, while some prudence is needed, all I can tell you is: get ready to be a bit shocked (and I mean in a very good way)! :-D
