Hi Hernán,

I'm confused right now...Maybe you can shine some light on this?

I have two different numbers for the Queen Rock Montreal & Live Aid 2DVD: AA2000 and AA5250.

In your list there is a version with AA4000, but I think that is for the 2015 re-release?

Thank for asking that, Walter.

You are right. I confused the original version with the 2015 reissue (which I had no idea about until I saw your codes the other day). I also had the AA5250 code from 2007, but, when I found AA4000, I assumed the former was just wrong on my file and decide to delete the AA5250. I didn't know the video had been reissued two years ago.

But you solved the mystery. There is one for the 2007 version and a new one for the 2015 one. Thank you again for that.

By the way, counting everything together (including the Blu-Ray), Queen Rock Montreal's video has shipped around 225,000 units in Brazil. :-D The CD version shipped 5,000 copies.

I had a similar problem with Live In Japan. There are plenty of different versions, which I messed up in the past. I ordered that a little bit last year. Same for Rock In Rio and We Will Rock You.

Great sales for QRM in Brazil!

OK, it makes sense now. But...what's the case with the "AA2000 release" then?

The last 15 years or so, whenever they have an official announcement, over 250 million records worldwide is the number, it doesn't seem to change. But with all the releases the last years, you would think they are closer to 300, and maybe even more.. Maybe they should update the numbers now ?

BPI (British Phonographic Industry) named Queen Greatest Hits as the UK’s Highest Certified Album yesterday on Twitter. The iconic rock band’s 1981 compilation album earned the impressive distinction upon reaching a staggering 20X Platinum certification level.

Fans and critics alike hail Queen as one of the biggest rock bands of all time. The British supergroup is known for producing several power rock anthems including, “We Are The Champions,” “We Will Rock You,” “Another One Bites The Dust,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” These indelible hits all appear on the Greatest Hits album, with the latter being named the UK’s Favorite No. 1 Single across six decades of the Official Singles Chart in 2012.

Late, great front man Freddie Mercury notably penned 10 of the 17 tracks on Queen Greatest Hits. He was known and loved for his soaring vocal range and theatrical stage presence. Mercury joined Brian May and Roger Taylor to form Queen in 1970. The band enjoyed two decades of fame with Mercury before his tragic death in 1991.

Greatest Hits is Queen’s first compilation album and showcases a broad collection of the band’s biggest hits from 1974 to 1981. It has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide and held top position on the UK Albums Chart for four weeks.

Queen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 and was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the following year. Original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor formed a long-term collaboration with “American Idol” season eight runner-up Adam Lambert in 2011.

Lambert currently serves as Queen frontman, though no one can ever replace Freddie Mercury’s legendary role in the band. Queen + Adam Lambert will kick off a 2017 North American tour on June 23 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Thanks Hernán and Walter for the new Brazilian figures. Rock Montreal keeps doing well.

Usually, the figure 300,000,000 refers to records (albums + singles + videos). But in their official Facebook page, the figure 250,000,000 albums is reported. It appears a slightly high number, unless it was calculated with the CSPC method, that is to say the system adopted by Billboard and by the ChartMasters.org website.

In the first months of 2017, the trend is more or less the same. Greatest Hits is always selling well in UK, Australia and Canada. In the USA, Platinum Collection is in a good form, also Greatest Hits sometimes gets into charts.
Also in Italy Platinum Collection is as always in good form. This month of July, also the Italian albums chart should include also the streaming system of calculation, so Queen should take advantage of this.

This June, as we know, the North American tour of Queen + Adam Lambert starts. And it should reach Europe in the months of October and November and UK in December. In that period Queen's sales could take a good advantage, above all when the film about Freddie Mercury will be officially announced. I don't know if new releases are in progress, I don't think if it's particularly necessary at this moment. Even if, looking at the other acts, there's a bit of envy (see The Beatles' new box set of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)... Probably we will have new issues after the film release, hoping that they will be really strong items, as Queen, in that period, will have a great popularity and thus will have to take advantage of it.
