#2 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, only pipped to the post by Morrissey's new album. Outsold new releases by Paloma Faith, Iron Maiden, ELO, Black Sabbath, Green Day, Pink Floyd, INXS, Niall Horan, Madness and Tom Chaplin.

Not bad at all. Equivalent to the latest Bowie box-set, which also reached #2 in September.

At the moment Thank God It's Christmas is registering good numbers on Spotify and it is also in good form in some charts.

#88 Germany
#82 Netherlands
#69 Austria
#2 UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart

Interesting the article from ChartMasters.org about the streaming catalog albums before 2000 (both video and audio). Queen are the artists with the most catalog albums into the top-50 before 2000:

#9 A Night At The Opera 544,000
#19 Jazz 359,000
#20 News Of The World 348,000
#22 The Game 342,000
43 Hot Space 239,000
#44 The Works 237,000

Platinum collection @ no.22

That's the Year End Chart for Rock Albums, so No22 is pretty good.

Billboard Rock Albums Year End Chart
No22 - Queen - The Platinum Collection

Billboard Top200 Albums Year End
No135 - Queen - The Platinum Collection

Billboard Top200 Artists Year End
No74 - Queen

Billboard Top200 Catalogue Albums Year End
No30 - Queen - The Platinum Collection

Great codes, especially for News Of The World. By my reckoning, the 2011 reissue must have sold 5,000-6,000 units in Brazil and I'm sure there are similar codes for just about all the other albums, which means that they sold a bit more than we were thinking.

Instead of 2,000-3,000 each, their studio albums are most likely to have reached indeed 5,000-6,000 copies, except perhaps Flash Gordon and Hot Space (surely a bit less) and A Night At The Opera (surely a bit more).

On the HavenForum it was posted the list of the 2017 most selling albums in UK.
Greatest Hits is #68 with 100,500 copies. In 2016 it was #69 with about 90,000 copies and if I well remember in 2015 it sold more than 80,000 copies. Considering that in February 2014 it reached 6,000,000 copies, it's probable that with the last HavenForum's estimations this record has reached its 21st Platinum, for a total of 6,300,000 copies.

Today in Italy Queen reached their 5th certification of the year 2017 for the digital singles sales. This is a summary of the year:

We Will Rock You: Platinum in the 15th week
Another One Bites The Dust Platinum in the 16th week
Bohermian Rhapsody 2 Platinums in the 38th week
I Want To Break Free Gold in the 40th week
Under Pressure Platinum in the 52th week.

Greatest Hits was #5 into the Canadian Top Rock Albums for the year 2017:

http://www.buzzanglemusic.com/wp-conten ... Report.pdf (page 71)

The result is obtained through the following system: Total Album Consumption (Album Audio Project Units) = Album Sales + (Song Sales/10) + (On-Demand Audio Streams/1500).

Total: 40,996 units sold in Canada in 2017.

Thank you, Loris. Another great report, I still remember the one from last year where Queen ranked amongst the Top 25 acts in total albums sales, with over 80,000 copies.

Too bad they didn't make it in 2017, although I suspect they would have been not much lower than 40,000 overall, which is still far below what they did in 2016. In my caluclations I was assuming they would manage albums sales of 60,000-80,000 this year again, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Not sure what explains that gap but, based on how well Greatest Hits performed across all avenues, it seems Queen are incredibly popular in Canada. :-D

Queens greatest hits seems to be a big seller everywhere. Any idea what it sold in the US last year and worldwide?

Yes, I too was thinking about a bigger number. In 2017 their albums sales in Canada were quite low. I think Queen were at 40,000 albums sold, as you state. But as to their digital songs and streaming market, I think their figures are very good, as confirmed by the Greatest Hits 40,000 units. I think that Greatsest Hits sold, as pure albums sales, at least 15,000 units.

The HavenForum's estimations were of 100,000 copies in Great Britain. As to the United States, we don't have many news about Greatest Hits. The estimations by the user oldbloke at UKMIX:

https://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic. ... &start=625

are of 69,000 pure copies for The Platinum Collection and about 300,000 counting both streaming and digital tracks with ther TEA and SEA method.
Greatest Hits, at mid 2017, had sold more than The Platinum Collection as pure sales, so I think it is not far from The Platinum Collection figures in the United States. My estimation is of 55,000/65,000 units.
