A superb list Pingu!

Great to see some love for Tenement Funster, Dragon Attack and Back Chat in particular :)

Thanks :) I still love Back Chat from the strange era when I honestly believed Hot Space was Queen's greatest album (I only owned it, The Works and AKOM!)

Would be interesting to know which members' songs were rated as favorites, percentage wise, by us.

Just taking a cursory glance at all the postings in this thread I'd have to say that Brian probably has more of his songs listed as favorites with Freddie being second and Roger and John bringing up the rear.

Of course the output of Brian and Freddie was much larger than both Roger and John so it would stand to reason that they're songs would be more often selected as favorites but off the top of my head I'd have thought Freddie would have had the most "favorite" songs but again, just by taking a cursory glance at the posts it appears Brian may be out front.

Great point!

Personally speaking, Brian's songs have grown on me more than any of the others over the years, and maybe this has been other peoples experiences as well?
Hot Space is actually only my 6th favourite Queen album.
(But is a very underrated album in my opinion).

Sheer Heart Attack - Flick of the Wrist/Tenement Funster
A Night at the Opera - Bohemian Rhapsody/I'm In Love With My Car
A Day at the Races - Drowse/Somebody To Love
News of the World - It's Late/Spread Your Wings*/My Melancholy Blues
Jazz - Don't Stop Me Now/Fat Bottomed Girls
The Game - Dragon Attack/Sail Away Sweet Sister/Save Me
Flash Gordon - The Hero/All of Side 2
Hot Space - Dancer/Action This Day
The Works - I Want to Break Free/Machines
A Kind of Magic - Who Wants To Live Forever/Princes of the Universe/Gimme The Prize
The Miracle - Was It All Worth It/Breakthru
Innuendo - The Show Must Go On/These Are the Days of Our Lives/I Can't Live With You

*I was going to cheat and put Spread Your Wings on Live Killers because that's where I heard it first. Same thing with Under Pressure from Greatest Hits come to think of it as that's where it first appeared (at least in the US).

Quite similar to my list, including the 3 Brian tracks from The Game, I've always liked Dragon Attack, but that track has grown on me more than most over the years, the production and mastering on that track (and the whole album in fact) is just superb!

I like that idea. Here are my favorite/runner-up performances from the live albums:

Live Killers: Spread Your Wings/Don't Stop Me Now
Montreal: Save Me/I'm In Love With My Car
Milton Keynes: Somebody To Love/Back Chat
Wembley: In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited/Radio Ga Ga
Budapest: haven't really listened to this one enough to form an opinion
Live Magic: too butchered to have a favorite

Well Spread Your Wings on Live Killers is my favourite ever version of my favourite Queen song :-D

And Save Me (Montreal) and Somebody To Love (MK) are also absolutely outstanding versions!

Thanks...!! Drowse is my all time fave... By miles actually. Fight from the inside is amazing.... So damned "dirty" and raw. I think I read somewhere that slash said it was his favourite Brian riff, ironic as it's Roger...!! And Mustapha, well, it's the dynamics really. The shift from mono to stereo and back again.... Just fantastic... Backchat for the solo really.

Great to see such a wild variety of picks in this thread.

Queen - Keep Yourself Alive
Queen II - Seven Seas of Rhye
Sheer Heart Attack - Stone Cold Crazy
A Night at the Opera - The Prophet's Song
A Day at the Races - You and I
News of the World - It's Late
Jazz - Dead on Time
The Game - Sail Away Sweet Sister
Flash Gordon - Battle Theme
Hot Space - Dancer
The Works - It's a Hard Life
A Kind of Magic - Who Wants to Live Forever
The Miracle - I Want It All
Innuendo - The Show Must Go On
Made in Heaven - Heaven for Everyone

I really struggled picking just one for some of these!

Waggoner Will, forgive me my ignorance but what do you mean with this: The shift from mono to stereo and back again.... Just fantastic.. What shift form mone to stereo is happening in Fight from the Inside, during the lyrics? Did I missed something over the years, I always thought that the stereo effects in Fight from the Inside is particully done by Brian's guitar effects. Please enlightend this maybe deaf geezer!

No, sorry if I was unclear. The stereo/mono thing is in Mustapha... And it really is there... I like fight from the inside because it's so raw... I know Roger's songs are not too everyone's taste but on the mid queen 74-80 period I think he was on great form. I like fun it very much too

You're joking aren't you Capt.? If I'm right you think that there is nothing worthwile going on or to be find on Made in Heaven? I must admit, I've been a 'Royalty' since 1974 and when released I had very confused feelings towards Made in Heaven, but I think that Made in Heaven isn't a Frankenstein, nor a swansong. Over the years I've started to rate Made in Heaven as a very strong album, maybe, just maybe an album Queen could have made when Freddie was still around.
But I for one is very curious to know what you don't like, or dislike about Made in Heaven.

Tom

OK, track 13 is my favourite. Genuinely.
I'm not going to thread-crap all over this nice topic about how bad I think MIH is.

Is there a topic like this to people say what are their favorite tracks of solo albums from each Queen member?
Now there's a smile on the face of the tiger.
