The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke

Serious discussion about the band known as QUEEN.

The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke

A discussion of possible interest to Queen geeks between the art historian Neil Gaiman and the rather wonderful Janina Ramirez. Discussion of the painting itself begins at about 22 minutes.

One point: unless he had an obscure, limited edition version of the original LP, Neil is surely wrong to say that he first saw the painting on the cover of the Queen II album. Sure, the lyrics were there and an attribution along the lines of 'Inspired by a painting by Richard Dadd' - but not a reproduction of the painting itself. I remember first seeing it when I looked it up on the internet a few years ago.

Or is my ageing memory playing tricks on me (again)?

No, I think it's HIS memory playing the tricks.
What is left of your dream?
Just the words on your stone.
A man who learnt how to teach,
But forgot how to learn.
