The Platinum Collection

Serious discussion about the band known as QUEEN.

To anyone interested: I can confirm what I just suspected:

Today I got in the mailbox a brand new 2017 version of The Game 2011 Remasters CD, Island label, with standard jewel case, the square design.

A reprint of the 2011 Remasters has now been made, no longer with the super jewel cases with rounded corners, but standard jewel cases. Not only Greatest Hits, but all of the studio albums has the new design. Made In the EU.

:-)

Here is the evidence:

(CD cover is still sealed on these photos).

Received another copy of the new CD design for
2017/18. There is a mix of the "old" (super jewel case) and new (standard jewel case) design on the market, but not for long.

Very soon, (perhaps in a few months, the old design will be gone forever.

I know The Game and A Kind Of Magic albums are no longer available with the old design. The new looks better, as the shape is more similar to a LP cover. That is my opinion.

A lot of the albums that were originally issued in Super Jewel Cases (not just Queen), are now being re-issued in standard Jewel cases.

To be honest it was only UMG that used the super jewel case. While they have their benefits (stronger hinges and center disc stubb) its a PITA to find a replacement should you break one.

Much prefer a jewel case to a card sleeve / digipak however.
