Serious discussion about the band known as QUEEN.

Should Queen bring in a Symphony Orchestra and record it live in concert ?

Yes, the music is made for it!

Queen In Symphony Concert ? (Poll/discussion)

Postby TheHero » Sun Apr 08, 2018 8:09 pm

Should Queen make a Symphony live recording?
Other bands have done it. Metallica, U2 ++

Some of their 70s material, and also 80s and 90s songs, are almost written for that big orchestral sound. And the Red Special would love it.

These clips sets the thoughts on what could have been a brilliant thing for Queen to try out.

They have tried musical, and this takes them to the next level. I think the best thing would be to bring in a lot of guest vocalists. They could have used a lot of people from both the Queen Extravaganza and WWRY teams. People like Marc Martel, and also other well known and unkown vocalists/talents. One for each song.

Performed with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Then they could also add up with Jamie Moses on guitar. Neil Murray on bass? Cathy Porter, Shelly Preston. Rufus Taylor on percussion as well? Timpani solo on Keep Yourself Alive? White Queen, Prophet's Song, Love Of My Life, WWTLF, The Show Must Go On, Innuendo.. Fairy Feller's Masterstroke?

Would be a great idea, wouldn't it ?

I would be the first to pre-order an LP of such a magic concert spectacle! Recorded with the best possible sound and HD for the Blu-ray.

An easy yes from me! It would strenghten the legacy of their music and make Freddie proud! Maybe some of their songs, usually dropped for concerts because of the complexity, would finally have the chance to shine?

I actually think it would be kind of strange if Queen never did anything symphonic. My opinion is that if there is one band on the planet that should do a concert with an orchestra, it is Queen! I am hearing the harp intro on Prophet's Song and LOML in my head already. I also imagine the violins on White Queen... Wonderful!

But they should not wait too long. It has been a long wait already.

A part of the money that comes from the sales of the record / concert could go to good causes if they need a reason for doing it.

This is probably the closest we'll ever get to it.

Truth be told, I wasn't overly impressed by it.

As said in another thread it would be nice if the orchestra could be incorporated into a Q+AL concert somewhere down the line.

Thinking about it,

Given the success of Elvis and Roy Orbison's vocals being mixed with the RPO, I'm surprised they haven't tried this in some capacity with Queen. Depends on the quality of the master tracks though and whether they're fully able to incorporate old vocals onto a newly recorded orchestral pad.

True.

Although, I loved this album; it wasn't too obvious or blatant but very subtle, with some bigger splashes here and there. I particularly loved the WWTLF piece - beautiful and moving.

And, yes, I would love to see a full symphonic concert of Queen music, alongside Brian and Roger (my, to hear TSMGO with full orchestra and Brian's weeping guitar...bliss). :)
