2CD Deluxe Photo Book Edition

Postby TheHero » Wed May 02, 2018 6:27 pm

Absolute Greatest 2CD Deluxe Photo Book Edition:

- 20 Greatest hits CD
- Bonus CD with track by track commentary
- Never before seen photos (in 2009)
- Lyrics of all 20 songs
- Hand written lyrics
- Exclusive access to video streams

This format was really impressive I think.
The hardback book is beautiful in itself; a super quality product. And the track by track commentary by Brian and Roger is entertaining; a nice way to hear through the songs again. It is great to hear them enjoying it, because they do!

They are funny and coming with interesting facts. You can hear Brian filling up a glass of water and icecubes during You're My Best Friend.. Roger joking about the sound of Brian pouring a glass of Whiskey.. haha.

An interesting fact Brian comes up with, is that John Deacon actually plays the rythm guitar / main riff on Another One Bites The Dust.
That was new to me !

In my opinion this format really makes the CD shine, with the book and photos, even better than LP cover art.

I think they really should have done this with many more releases .. but as far as I know, this is the only Queen CD Photo Book edition?

Has anyone else got this product, and what is your opinion on it?

A big plus: It was not very expensive compared to big box sets. Simply a very deluxe 2CD package, a sort of coffee table book to read and play,

Only appealed to the collector in me. Flicked through the book once and listened to the commentatries once. Don't think I'll be returning to either soon.

I'll probably read the book once and stick the CD onto my icloud library, then the physical product will be just taking up storage space. Depends a bit on price though however, and if it's not too pricey I would probably buy in place of a regular edition.

Being fair, the two-CD edition was available as just a two CD edition, so the commentaries weren't exclusive to the book.

I bought one of the book editions when they first came out, and then about a year later found someone at a car boot sale selling about twenty of them still shrink wrapped at about two quid a pop. Think I bought about half a dozen, and they're still knocking about somewhere unopened.

The rarer ones of AG to try and get are the Editions released on the Universal label to hawk the Tchibo coffee promotion in Germany.
