Unseen 1974 in the studio footage

Serious discussion about the band known as QUEEN.

Unseen 1974 in the studio footage

Postby dave76 » Mon May 07, 2018 9:59 pm

In a new swedish documentary entitled We Will Rock You there is some amazing new and unseen footage of the band in 1974 in Trident Studios recording Killer Queen and we see Roy Thomas Baker behind the mixing desk.
This is pure gold and has never been seen before. It is unclear who provided this but since Brian May did a brand new interview for this documentary it is possible he brought it alone especially for this. Below is the link and scroll to 04:00 minutes for maybe the biggest surprise of the year!

Considering the multi-tracks only feature Frederick singing that particular bit (Maylor sing other bits, but not that one), I strongly suspect it's a staged video. Still nice to see, of course, but I remain sceptical.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger did not compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

Absolutely wonderful. Brief but spine-tingling for me. I have never seen this particular bit of early footage anywhere. Fab. :)

I am watching the 30 minutes new documentary now. New interviews with Brian May, Peter Hince, Paul Gambaccini (BBC), Ben Elton, Jim Jenkins etc..

Pretty good stuff, but no new information.

There is also a clip where the promo vinyl with Killer Queen is given to the DJ in the radio in 1974. The song will be released that friday. He listens to it, and says:

"Ehhmm, I'll have another listen to it.. it is not really a breakfast record.. a bit much maybe for this thing in the morning. "

The documentary is mainly about the hit-single We Will Rock You.
