Were any songs played live before release?

Talk about Queen's live performances.

Indeed!
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger did not compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

Was Who Wants To Live Forever performed at Wembley before it got it's single release, the only reason I ask is because Freddie says "here is a new song Who Wants, To Live, Forever" suggesting the single hadn't come out by that point (although the album actually had)?

The single was released after the tour, in September '86, so yeah, the band played it before it was released as a single, but it had been released on AKOM in June.

And what about "God Save the Queen" ?
When did they start to end a gig with this ? Was it during SHA tour ?

Thanks for the info, I had a feeling the album already due to the audience's reactions to One Vision, A Kind Of Magic and Friends Will Be Friends, however Who Want's To Live Forever was more muted, not due to disappointment as the crowd cheer loudly at the end but probably because some of the audience hadn't heard that track that much by that point :)

How about 'God Save The Queen', that was used for years before it was released on A Night At The Opera ? ;-)

I think it was recorded on the back of the Sheer Heart Attack sessions, and first included on the US re-issue of Keep Yourself Alive in 1974, as a B side track with Lily Of The Valley. AFAIK, apart from one particular occasion on top of Buckingham Palace, Brian never played it live.

Pedant, checking in! 'Keep Yourself Alive' was re-released in July 1975.

I meant '75, honestly. As it was pretty much the corresponding US single release to Now I'm Here everywhere else. I can only think I typed '74 because it was rattling round my mind that Sheer Heart Attack came out that year.
