Life Is Real - Live

Talk about Queen's live performances.

Life Is Real - Live

So... Apparently this happened? Thoughts?

I didn't think the version that ended up on Hot Space was all that great, but I really like this version, makes me wish that Freddie and Brian had done it as a live piano/acoustic guitar combination back when they were touring.

Here we go, tellin' lies...

They played it a few times in 1982 with the full band.

I think she did well in singing it. I enjoyed seeing it being performed.

Yes, but I think the OP was saying that an acousic arrangement would have worked better.

I agree that it would have been interesting to have seen them do this as part of an acoustic set. I remember thinking during the MTV unplugged hysteria of 1992 (thanks to Clapton) that a Queen unplugged would have been so cool, and it would have brought an American audience back to them.

I've never heard of Zemfira, but I thought she did a good job, and her voice suited the arrangement. Does anyone know if she had her choice of songs or if they chose this for her? Nice touch with the "Freddie is a genius" line: I wonder if Brian knew that was coming or if it was another Lord's Prayer moment?

1992 might have been too soon for Queen+ to do that, given they'd just lost Freddie and things were too raw.

 I walked into that one, didn't I?!

I bet if Brian hadn't started working on Back to the Light he would have been up for it!

I wonder who he would have picked back then for the "+"?

For a while after Freddie's death Brian didn't want to do anything as Queen. He was the last member to join the Made In Heaven sessions and for a while it looked like only Roger and John were considering carrying on as Queen. How things had changed by 1997...

There are videos on YouTube that painfully show how annoyed he is every time someone asked him a Queen question while he was on tour with his new band. I think he even walked out on a few of them.

While I originally posted that he would have been up for it as a joke, now I'm wondering if he would have done it had he been approached (highly unlikely without Freddie though, isn't it). He looked like he was having fun at the FM Tribute concert, and knew he would be releasing Back to the Light in 1993, and he is a businessman -- and as Freddie said shortly before dying "what better publicity…".

One of the best quality versions of Life Is Real with Freddie/Brian singing live:

I really need to redo this remaster, could sound a little better.
