Small....

Postby Kit » Sat Aug 18, 2012 12:53 pm

.....what a great song and as good as anything on the 80's albums. Should have been the single. Before anyone says it, I know it's a shame about the rest of the album.

It was probably the only song I really enjoyed from the album but I think I prefer the reprise just a little more.

Far from it.

There's some very good stuff on that album, just a shame about the "Q" word being on the cover.

Even We Believe is a pretty good song if you can forget that things like You're The Voice and We Are The World preceded it.

C-lebrity has a cracking riff. Cosmos Rockin' is alright. Surf's Up kicks, and to me, the real jewel on the album is Some Things That Glitter.

My favourite on the album is We Believe, but after that I like Still Burnin', Surf's Up, Small and Say It's Not True. I was listening to the album in the bath the other day so the volume was turned up quite loud and Warboys and C-lebrity sound immense.

When the album came out I actually played it for weeks on end in my car, but I did end up just sticking to Cosmos Rocks, Small, We Believe, Some things..., Surfs Up....and skipped the rest. Those six songs are cracking, is it a coincidence that they are the 'Queen' written tracks?

I think I liked the album better than most. I still love listening to Cosmos Rockin' (especially live). I thought Time To Shine had a great vocal line, I loved Small. I loved Some Things That Glitter. We Believe had a grand sound to it. Say It's Not True was enjoyable as was C-Lebrity. Warboys is great if you pump up the volume due to Roger's power.

Even the not so good tracks are at worst forgettable filler to me.

*shrug*

Some Things That Glitter is probably the one that plays most often with Cosmos Rockin' and Small right behind.

I don't like Call Me If You Need My Love yet it is probably the catchiest one on there - it's one of those songs you hate yet can't help singing along to for no good reason.

another TCR debate? :)

Small is a beautiful song. superb vocals from rodgers, and imo, a very nice solo from brian.
the title track was better live, but still a fun song on the album.
call me has the most brian may sounding guitar solo since the 70s.
Some things...and Through the night are, imo, very good songs. I've always said that both would have fit perfectly on made in heaven in terms of mood and lyrics.
C-lebrity - love the content, and the guitars are good. (turn it up on a proper stereo and it sounds amazing)

yeah - I still like the album alot.

a shame it didn't do better - perhaps it would have prolonged QPR

I doubt it. Rodgers doesn't hang around long in bands.

Brian and Roger could still write decent songs and I am sure this is one of Roger's compositions.

I just wish they would create more music - Brian wrote The Show Must Go On FFS plus many others. I think its a waste that they haven't been creating any new music when they clearly have the ability.

Exactly, he has a history of hanging around for a limited period of time before taking off.

I know I'm not the first person to say this but I'd love for a Roger-sung version to be on his upcoming album.

Maybe that track could be included as a bonus track? He may have possibly recorded his vocals as well as Paul's when they made TCR.

Presumably he'll have recorded a demo with a vocal guide at some point, yeah.

Some decent tracks on the album, better than Hot Space, but thats about all from the 80s.
