The Cosmos Rocks - Surf's been up for 5 years this weekend

Postby BitterTears » Fri Sep 13, 2013 7:09 pm

Happy birthday TCR!

Remember that album? On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is We We Rock You with 5ive and 10 is doing a Pepsi advert with Britney Spears and Pink, I think most people would give this album an A+

happy anniversary
still a good album to me. a shame they weren't more clever in the promotion of it and subsequently killed the entire project

I like We Believe, Cosmos Rockin', Still Burning, C-lebrity and Surf's Up... School's Out.
But it's always seemed to me that the album lacked that little extra...

It's a good album, with some excellent moments. At least 10,000 records by different artists fit that description.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger did not compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

Hatred because it says Queen on the cover.
But even if it would be Brian, Roger and Paul as a band name, the majority here would be disappointed as there is almost no Queen feel to the record and can be mainly seen as a Paul Rodgers album.
Luckily, I also like Paul so I like it and like the odd Queen element here and there.

It's not a good album, and it's not anywhere near as good as Hot Space, other than that I agree with every word
Hot Space is actually only my 6th favourite Queen album.
(But is a very underrated album in my opinion).

I can see where you're going wrong now, you need to listen to the Hot Space album rather than just the Under Pressure single :P

Anyway Back Chat is brilliant, the guitar solo in particular is amazing, arguably Brian's best! Cool Cat is very very yes cool and laid back, Staying Power kicks off the album well etc. I will always defend Hot Space, I think it's a really enjoyable, interesting, challenging and fun listen :-D

And just to let you know that I actually prefer the Flash soundtrack album to Innuendo, The Miracle and Made In Heaven

^^^Well the fact is that I rarely listen to Flash, Innuendo or Made in Heaven, so it doesn't really matter. If I want to listen to a Queen album, I'll listen to one of their best, i.e any of their 70's albums or The Game or Hot Space. After that they are not as good, and neither is Flash, in my opinion.

But then I am crazy :)
