I hate Record Store Day. It's a massive 'to do'.

But man, I want that Roger Taylor record.

As far as I can tell from what I've read, it is a 2 disc picture disc set.

I'm there!

I think I predicted this a few months ago

Good news, sort of, good it is being released on vinyl, bad that it is RSD, as it makes it harder to buy at a reasonable price probably.
Hot Space is actually only my 6th favourite Queen album.
(But is a very underrated album in my opinion).

I dont know - after the initial stupid ebay prices the kissing me song and SIS were about ticket price for a while?

They've basically almost always been a lot more than a normally priced record though!

RSD is a good idea, but you need money to buy the good stuff (that's the facts), and these days I and many have to save up for it, which doesn't really make it something to look forward to unfortunately.

I suppose it might be, but that won't make much difference, as these are imported over here anyway, and they will be limited in number and therefore very expensive anyway, so it won't make much difference :(

Most of the fun of this for me is getting up early and queueing outside a shop with a bit of adrenaline! Just the the old days rather than "click click" then wait for the post!

^^^Errr no basically. I get up at about 6am every morning Mon to Fri to go to work, and I just don't want to get up even earlier than that on a Saturday. In fact I did it once and queued up for over 3 hours and still didn't get most of the records I wanted anyway!

RSD just doesn't work anymore in my opinion, with dozens of idiots queuing up all night to buy all the best records and then selling them on ebay etc. It should be once a month I reckon (say last saturday of every month, which is often the quietest in the shops before payday), and spread out all the limited releases throughout the year. And everyone queueing should be limited to just 3 different records each, so that fans get what they really want, and those ebayer sellers are put off queueing!

True - the ebay dealers are a pain. I suppose I am lucky that my nearest store is at the Devon coastline and not that busy. There were only about 10 people in the queue and they did rush to get stuff - luckily they did not seem bothered by the Brian May release!

The shop owner said he has to offer them in his shop for a certain amount of time then he is allowed to put on ebay himself. Seems silly he cannot do straight away.

He was saying he does not make much profit as the stock is expensive. And the stuff I saw on ebay from the shop I was at the people buying were dealers anyway - just without shops!

Roger Taylor will be rereleasing his acclaimed album ‘Fun On Earth’ on limited edition double vinyl to coincide with Record Store Day 19th April. In Roger’s own words: -

"The resurgence of vinyl is so fantastically exciting because it's how we all fell in love with music, it really does sound better. Analogue forever!"

Originally released in November 2013 on Virgin/ EMI, ‘Fun on Earth’ is one of Taylor’s most exciting and accomplished pieces of work to date. Recorded at Priory Studios, Surrey, the 13 track album is a triumphant display of superior musicianship showcasing Taylor at his vocal best. ‘Say It’s Not True’ sees Taylor team up with Jeff Beck for the contemporary Queen favourite while the smooth refrains and heartfelt lyrics of ‘Sunny Day’ and ‘Be With You‘ come together with the powerful, reckless spirit of opening track ‘One Night Stand‘ and ‘I Am The Drummer (In A Rock n’ Roll Band)’ on what is an exhilarating, tour de force of rock music.

With a juggernaut career spanning six decades, Taylor was the beating heart of Queen penning landmark hits ‘Radio Ga Ga’, ‘A Kind of Magic’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’ while enjoying success across the globe with accomplished solo material which reached the heights of the UK charts. With ‘Fun On Earth,’ Roger Taylor has managed to produce an album of intelligence, outstanding melody, sentiment and maturity without becoming ‘Middle Of The Road’ or dull, and that is one of his greatest achievements.

Tracklisting:

The tracklisting for the vinyl rerelease of ‘Fun On Earth’ has been reordered by Roger himself to give vinyl listeners a more cohesive listening experience. Two extra songs (‘Whole House Rockin’ and ‘Dear Mr Murdoch’)- originally added to the version of Fun On Earth that came as part of Roger’s career retrospective ‘The Lot’ box set- will be included on this limited edition vinyl release.

As nice as this piece looks i think i will pass. I'm not a big fan of Picture Discs as I find them to have a lot of surface noise compared to standard Vinyl LP. If it was there as a standard LP i would purchase as it is my favourite album by Roger.

I'm hoping Island / Universal will release the Queen Catalog on vinyl using 2011 remasters soon as the 2009 EMI ones are cr*p
