Record Store Day

Talk about their solo projects.

Had a text chat to Nick earlier, he reckons the QOL shop allocation is selling like bloody hot-cakes.

Obviously people have wised up that you can queue for hours for RSD, and STILL not get what you were after. £25 for a double album Pic Disc sounds a lot cheaper than I think it will probably be marked up for on RSD.

This is from the press release:-

"With a juggernaut career spanning six decades, Taylor was the beating heart of Queen penning landmark hits ‘Radio Ga Ga’, ‘A Kind of Magic’ and ‘Days of Our Lives’ while enjoying success across the globe with accomplished solo material which reached the heights of the UK charts. With ‘Fun On Earth,’ Roger Taylor has managed to produce an album of intelligence, outstanding melody, sentiment and maturity without becoming ‘Middle Of The Road’ or dull, and that is one of his greatest achievements."

Surely someone is taking the piss here? :?

Edit:-
Anyones thoughts? If this had been posted by AlexKx and had a :onfire: at the end, I for one wouldn't have been surprised, certainly got me thinking!
Hot Space is actually only my 6th favourite Queen album.
(But is a very underrated album in my opinion).

Good point, Jimbo. Roger could probably use a "no" man or two in his inner circle.

What bothers me more is that Island is releasing this in Canada but Hollywood isn't in the US. I'm glad I bought FOE and the Lot from Amazon UK when I did.

Never mind eBay and all the other reseller websites.

That's because unlike Brian, Roger has never been signed on Hollywood Records' roster as a solo artist.

Yes indeed. But that quote has to be a joke. Those 3 singles are 3 of Queen's most Middle of the Road singles, that's the point. Roger is always going on about loving Rock music and how Queen should have done more in that style etc, but at the time he embraced the current popular sound of the time more than any other Queen songwriter

Now I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but that quote above from that press release has to be a pisstake!

"juggernaut career", what does that even mean?

"solo material which reached the heights of the UK charts", which of his solo tracks reached number 1 in the charts in the UK? Or even Top10? Or even Top20? I'll give you a clue. Less than any

"that is one of his greatest achievements", really "Fun On Earth" is one of Roger's greatest achievements? What?

Seriously, does anyone know who wrote this press release? Who was it? And do they know how funny it is?

Then Island/Universal should be releasing it in the US. Even though they won't move many units.

Maybe they'll be for sale at the merchandise table during the tour. They can make the person who wrote that press release man it! :P

I think it's a fair point that if they had sold TCR at the relevant tours, it might well have shifted three times as many copies as it actually did.

In Roger’s own words: -

"The resurgence of vinyl is so fantastically exciting because it's how we all fell in love with music, it really does sound better. Analogue forever!"

Read: "The resurgence of vinyl is so fantastically exciting because it's another way to make even more money with the same content!"

Yeah, but if he wanted to make more money with the same content, then why just not rerelease "The Lot". I and others still want to buy it!

I am pretty sure that there won't be enough people to buy a new edition that would economically justify a new edition... I reckon most copies would have to be used to substitute faulty ones that are still out there.

The QOL shop version is the same as the record store day one isn't?

Please say it is! I don't want to go through the crap of queueing outside those bloody shops again!
