John Deacon in 2014

Talk about their solo projects.

This is an unforgivable invasion of privacy , no wonder he looks hacked off.
He looks like any guy his age who hasn't had a face lift and a hair transplant.
He's a grandad for goodness sake not a 30 year old. He RETIRED over 20 years ago.
He doesn't want to be part of the music business any more and should be left in peace.
He remains one quarter of the best band the world has ever seen.
Even now they still wear the crown, but Queen ended when Freddie died.
By the way, I was talking to someone the other day who went to see Mott the Hoople in the early 70s .
Queen were the support.
What were Queen like I asked........phenomenal he said........unbelievable.....when they left the stage
he thought to himself.......poor Mott imagine having to try and follow that .
Ps.no one , but no one plays bass like the great man himself, so leave him alone.

Good to see John once again!!!

As per the discussion, I don't think it is invasion of his privacy in the sense that is only 3 pictures of the bassist of the best band in the world, he wrote songs that still nowadays are on the radio and people sing them and buy them, and also (and the most important reason): we fans deserve to know a bit of him, and with this new picture it is enough.

I also agree it is so strange not many personal pics have surfaced since 1997, maybe he is not that recognizable while walking in the street...

If I saw him I wouldnt know what to say, I think I wouldnt dare to ask for a photo or anything just in case he rejects. In 2012 I went to his house in London and stayed in the front door for 30 min or so and had a chat with some neighbours who advised they saw him occassionally.

Chances of meeting anyone famous never mind just John are pretty slim for me, not just because I don't live in England but also, famous people masquerading around a big city as casual as anything would be harder to spot. David Bowie might still be working but he can walk around New York City on his own without being constantly hounded. For a man with so many hit albums spanning a fifty year career he is certainly no Michael Jackson when it comes to hiding from the public eye.

You never know who you might walk past if you're in London or New York. So if you're not looking for anyone in particular, and you're going about your business. A guy like John here is doing the same thing. For all I know I probably walked past him in near Sloane Square last April and I wouldn't know it. If I did recognise him in the street, my heart would skip a beat for sure and do a double-take, but I think the best thing to do would be to keep going on my way and let him go on his way too. At least I would have in my mind that I could have passed John Deacon...or someone who looks like him. lol

I understand this isn't the morally ideal way of checking up on him but I'm at least grateful he's keeping well and hope he's happy.

I found this old post from QOL in 2002.

Little bit of John news
|07/24/02 at 12:45:18 Latest from Jacky at the fan club on the news page at http://www.queenworld.com about John:Yes, I have a sighting and couldn't resist passing it on! John was at the Musical on an evening a couple of weeks back, simply sitting in the audience and enjoying the show - and he and Veronica were guests at the Party In The Park in Hyde Park - both relaxed and happy and enjoying the show! So he is well and happy and, it seems, venturing out more these days!

I remember reading it back then, but never took much notice! John went to the musical? Wow.

I have in my memory that John was actually involved in the musical in the very early conceptual days. Does anyone remember that?

No idea. I didn't think he was involved at all.

There is an old fan club letter (Can't remember the date) written by John where he mentions the musical being in development...it intimated he was involved at that point but to what degree is not clear...It may have been his last fan club letter...

I so wish John would write an autobiography. It would be nice to know what went wrong here. :?

What do you mean what went wrong here?
As much as I would like to read/hear what he might have to say, I don't ever expect him to be an open book, no pun intended.

It would be really interesting if he did write a tell-all autobiography....not only to answer all the speculation as to his reasons for not being with Queen+ and what he really thinks of all the projects (really, the only one we know his opinion of is the Robbie Williams thing), and I'm sure there would be some stuff from 71-91 that we don't know. Yeah, it would be interesting, but most likely wont happen in a million years, obviously....and honestly probably shouldn't really, with how private of a man he apparently is....

Would it save you a lot of time if I just gave up and went mad now?
