He's clearly a reluctant superstar, but that's what he is and he can't really change it. It's nice that he's not being rude to his fans and signing the items though. There's nothing worse than not acknowledging those who have supported you.

I would love to bump into him and just say hello and 'thanks', but I would never ask for an autograph, they seem to me to be so utterly pointless. I did have a couple from Brian, but I gave them away, for that very reason.

FD out of interest would you have given a Freddie autograph away?

Good question! Yes, I really would. I would loved to have met him, to have shook his hand and spoke to him, but an autograph from him would not hold any value to me. These things used to mean something to me, but not now.

On a slightly related note, it's just about the only thing that I agree with Brian about these days, when he questioned why people at concerts hold up their phones and film him. He said that they are 'missing the moment', and that is so, so true....and why would anyone want a video of him anyway (presumably to show other people, yet they missed the moment themselves!). I have many videos of Brian from the appearances at the Dominion, but he was right, I missed it. I wouldn't do that now.

Something that tends to be a bit of a compromise. John Mayer did a song about that called '3x5', and it's all about how people cloud up a memory of something right in front of them, by spending pretty much all their time looking at it through a camera's viewfinder.
What is left of your dream?
Just the words on your stone.
A man who learnt how to teach,
But forgot how to learn.
