BM solo albums removed from Spotify

Postby TheHero » Mon Apr 18, 2016 2:42 pm

Star Fleet
Back To The Light
Live At The Brixton Academy
Another World

These albums are now removed from Spotify. I don't know why. :? No physical formats and no digital formats. Only Kerry Ellis albums comes up on BM Spotify profile. Sad.

The no.1 song on Brian May's profile is Rockstar with Dappy.
The BM profile has 85.000 monthly listeners.

While Roger Taylor have all albums from his solo career available on vinyl, CD and Spotify.
The RT profile has 27.000 monthly listeners.

Trying to put a silver lining here....

Is it possible they were removed because Brian plans to re-release them? It's been kind of been rumbled about a few times that Brian was considering his own "Lot" style Box-Set. Perhaps Brian had them taken down so he could reissue remastered versions?

Just a thought...

Yeah, first thing I thought was its for an incoming re-release. I guess it would have to be soon though because surely they'll be Freddie stuff for his 70th and I imagine they'll want to keep any Brian solo stuff a respectful distance away from Freddie's stuff

This was a thought that popped into my head as soon as I read the thread title.

The albums were on Spotify last year, I have seen them there.

I think the Brixton concert would also deserve a DVD or Blu-Ray release, maybe with new cover artwork and bonus stuff.

The tell-tale sign of a Brian re-release campaign are the youtube videos he's uploaded. The video for Resurrection was uploaded last year. In the description it said this:
Mastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering Studios, Portland, ME
Audio supervised by Justin Shirley-Smith and Kris Fredriksson.
There is no way that Bob Ludwig was paid to remaster audio for a youtube video.

Also, Since You've Been Gone was uploaded last January as well. Here is part of the description for this video:
The Brixton concert audio has now been re-mastered by Tim Young, under the supervision of Justin Shirley-Smith and Kris Fredriksson. The video was also upconverted to 720p.

So what does this mean? The video of Resurrection uses the Single Version of the song... upcoverted Brixton video... I'm thinking we are getting a "Lot" style box set for Brian's solo efforts. Remastered albums and single versions by Ludwig. Blu-Ray of Brixton. Maybe we'll see the Royal Albert Hall concert too?

Let's hope so but it could be something boring like a license expiring or something.

I realise admin can't confirm if a Brian May boxset is in the works...but perhaps we could ask for confirmation if a icense has expired or something...?

The copyright of the current Brian May solo recordings is owned by Duck Productions Ltd. under exclusive licence to EMI Records Ltd. My guess is that his solo albums will now be on the Universal/Virgin EMI label. I think that probably means new physical formats.
