2016 Freddie Mercury Release

Talk about their solo projects.

The Studio Collection is/was the finest and most complete product Queen ever released!
A total of 18 heavyweight 12" vinyls, done half-speed at Abbey Road studios.

The collection was contained inside 6 covers:

1. Black slipcase cover for the box.
2. Gold coloured, solid box containing all 18 vinyls.
3. Resealable protection sleeve for each album.
4. Outer album cover, with the album artwork.
5. Inner poly lined paper sleeves for each vinyl.
6. Inner cardboard with lyrics for each LP.

In addition it included a 108 pages high quality hardback book.
The box was not too expensive, could easily have been prized higher.
Did I buy it? Of course I did!

-----

So why am I not so sure if I am going to buy the solo singles box set?

- The Mercury boxset has 7" vinyls, not 12".
- It has 2 songs on each vinyl .. not a complete album (of course, because it is a singles box set).
- Are the vinyls thin or thick?
- Were they done half-speed at Abbey Road?
- Were they remastered?

Is it too expensive? - I don't know yet.. haven't seen any real photo of the vinyls , except from the animated pictures.

But, I actually like the artwork and the title of the box.

Well, "The Album Collection" was not perfect in that it did not include "The Cosmos Rocks" and at that point would have needed to be two box sets because it is massive as is. Of course "The Album Collection" colored vinyl version (how racist! lol) will soon be out of print and very hard to cum by being that it is a limited edition so a more proper release can and will hopefully redone in a few years, eh. (Maybe in a decade perhaps?)

I was trying to understand what this compilation is. It is…five songs released either as b-sides or a-sides from “Mr. Bad Guy”, ten remixes (of various types), five songs that were not only any of the original solo studio l.p.s but can be found on “Lover Of Life, Singer Of Songs: The Very Best Of Freddie Mercury Solo” and “The Solo Collection” 10 c.d. and 2 d.v.d. box set from the year 2000, two songs that are not available on anything other than “The Solo Collection”, and one song from the studio l.p. entitled “Barcelona”. Am I doing this right? Christ this is confusing. PLUS these are apparently not on any releases at all outside of their original singles:

The Fallen Priest (single edit) 2:55
Living On My Own (single edit) 3:05
Made In Heaven (single remix) 4:08
The Golden Boy (single edit) 5:14
She Blows Hot & Cold 3:39 – it seems, they bothered to restore studio chat before the song for the first time since original single.

Oh, this doesn't even add up. Maybe someone else can i.d. where these tracks originate from concerning the l.p.s and compilations they are taken from?

I think it WAS infact perfect because it did NOT include The Cosmos Rocs or anything with Queen+.
It was a pure QUEEN collection, and that is why I bought it.

I have just ordered it from Spin CD's. It's £79.99 plus free postage within UK.

Being that it ("The Album Collection") was and is a "limited edition" I definitely think that interesting and more complete versions can be done in the future concerning the complete "studio long plays".

Let's try to i.d. exactly what the original l.p. and compilation source(s) are for the tracks on "Messenger Of The Gods: The Singles". It appears to have been decided that five of the tracks cannot be bought elsewhere outside of their original single releases...

This is something that I have always obsessed about and LOVED how Queen most always explained many of these things (on and in their compilations with liner notes) THOUGH I suppose "Classic Queen" did not explain what certain tracks were beyond pertaining their original l.p. sources (which was important information as well by all means so don't get me wrong on and concerning that) and what versions were on that ("Classic Queen" that is) (I don't think at least off hand...or did they?).

Classic Queen's fairly easy.

An exclusive David Richards remix of Under Pressure, and a complete reshuffle edit of The Miracle, otherwise they're pretty much the original album versions.

One Vision on CQ is also edited.

Thanks for the link. Only hope now that they are (as my dog says) boney Fido.

One Vision on CQ may be edited, but it's still the album version, and not the single version.

I don't particularly count cropping a couple of seconds off a track as anything to shout about. Consequently, Queen Forever has three new tracks on it, and the others are just simple manipulations and fade outs of existing album tracks. Not even "edits" in the traditional sense of the word

Mmmm, I use to think that way but once they are different versions they are different versions. I would call those the "Queen Forever" versions and or to be more exact "Queen Forever" Edits. There are also the single versions on the classic "Classic Queen" for "Hammer To Fall" and "I Want It All". Tricky, tricky! What is this?! Do you not know your QUEEN shit?! Amateur! Who's running this place?! Children?!

Nah, children write "whose" instead of "who's" because they are not experienced enough in the language yet to know the former pertains to the possessive.

I'd like to think when it comes to Queen "shit", I know a bit more than the average bear, but NOBODY knows it all, not even the people who were "in" it.

So what's that in Mercury's hand on the cover? A DILDO?!

Ah, the glorious results of being able to retrospectively insert quotations. EVERYONE will now know what I'm talking about.

Have a guess what the correct punctuation is to use at the end of a question... Like the one with the "whose" in it.

I'll make it easy and give you a vote for Joe..

A). !
B). @
C). ?
D). $

Oh, and yeah, it's a dildo.

The dildo is the primary weapon of choice, synonymously associated with rock singers.
